2. falling asleep on or next to them
She assumed Tauriel meant to ask her for something, or to check on a recent injury, once she entered her office, but she’d only come to quietly sit next to her. Elliel had been working, propped up against a couch, and scribbling on what consisted mostly of paperwork, prescriptions, or case files, and the like, all piled into her lap. The two remained quiet as they sat together– She didn’t mind the quiet. Elliel continued her work, fully immersed in it, and hardly noticed Tauriel’s head fall into the crook of her neck.Being a Captain of the Guard must have been exhausting work! It was rare Elves slept at all.
Elliel laughed a little, “sleep, then!” she said softly, still scribbling. She was sure she’d heard her friend murmur something, although she could not make out what. Perhaps she was already half asleep. The surgeon had been stressed for a number of hours, hunched over her work, but now all she felt was calm. Soon enough Elliel placed her work aside and carefully adjusted her position to rest her head onto Tauriel’s, and dozed off herself, her heart warm.
