FAQ: What Happened to the Dope/Soil Show? Is Taproot Still On?
Everyone who reads my timeline or Tattermaskâs page probably remembers that this past Wednesdayâs show was cancelled, then reinstated in a very short period of time. After hearing that the reason for this was because the promoter, Faded Frankenstein, Inc., backed out of the show, people also asked me if our upcoming show with Taproot with the same promoter was going to be cancelled, too. To answer that question, I assure you that the Taproot show will most definitely go on. The reason for its continuing as scheduled is because I personally am taking on the financial responsibility for the band's guarantee so not to disappoint or jerk around our fans or the bands counting on that guarantee, NOT because the promoter has enough integrity to keep his word. He chose to dump these shows and the accompanying financial responsibilities in the laps of the venues without bothering to call the venue owners, much less the local support bands, to tell them what the deal was. When I tried to get in touch with him to figure out what was going on with Dope, I was met with three days of silence bookended by a few spotty text or Facebook messages with vague information about the Dope show and the Taproot show. The Chop Shop and Tattermask banded together and got the Dope show to continue, reselling the refunded tickets and pushing harder to get more people in the door so the band wouldnât walk away with zero dollars for their night in Charlotte⌠though Edsel Dope decided to whine on stage throughout their set about how small the crowd was. I guess you just canât please some people, no matter how hard you bust your ass to help them out. Currently, The Chop Shop and I, along with the local support bands, are taking over the Taproot show and making it happen seamlessly for fansâyour tickets are still good, please bring friends and show up October 7 to see us all perform :) If you bought your tickets directly from Faded Frankenstein, those tickets are still good, too, but please do let us know so that we can send him a bill for your tickets when all is said and done since he has yet to turn in unsold tickets or ticket money to the parties now financially responsible for the show. It is a shame that Faded Frankenstein is going under like this because Charlotteâs rock scene really did, and still does, need a benefactor with some cash to bring national bands to Charlotte as opportunities for local rock acts to network with those bands and grow their own fanbases. What Charlotteâs rock scene needs even more, though, is entities who take responsibility for their commitments and who are willing to do whatâs right even if it sucks sometimes.Â

JOSH: Finally Emerging from SCarowinds' Monster Goop...
It is Friday, November 2, 2012. I am writing this from my day job, eager to leave to go to tonightâs concert in Charlotte. This is also the first entry in the âTatter-talesâ blog. Anyway, what do I need to write about? What would keep your interest as I spew sentence after sentence about a band that is relatively unknown? To answer those questions, I donât know. Maybe we will get the ball rolling with what we, Tattermask, plan on doing in the not-so-distant future. As per many requests, we are planning on returning to the studio and perhaps releasing a 4 or 5 song E.P. As with everything, it requires a serious amount of $$ to get a professional product out on the market. We have thought about holding a cover art contest with a cash prize for the winner. This EP would also contain our 2012 version of âNo More,â which is currently unavailable. Starting immediately, we are also looking to film more Tattermask Webisodes. The current ones that we have posted on YouTube have had a decent response, and we always have a reaction to what our non-standard brains tend to spew out. We are looking to introduce another character in our next webisode who will be a recurring character throughout our series. We are also going to tie up a few loose ends that occurred in between seasons one and two. So, please look out and give us feedback on our future and current episodes. As for when and where you can see Tattermask perform live, we are working on that as well. Performing live is what makes us really love making music and we are looking forward to performing more as well as expanding our show radius to the southeastern region instead of just the Carolinas. All of these things depend on you, our fans. The more you show your interest and your support, the more we will give back. Be it concerts, webisodes, merch, or new albums and singles, we will make it worth your while. Now, as I close this blog entry out and prepare for tonightâs show, I just want to say âThank Youâ for your continued support and we hope to keep you entertained. Â

This band is one of my faves! They're based out of Charlotte, NC and they kick some serious ass! I'd equate them to being similar to Evanescence.
If you've read my book, "The Betrayal (A Living Dead Girl Novel)" you miiiight recognize the word Tattermask. The character of Amanda Cane says that Eddie had a tattered mask...pg. 360. It was groundwork for Amanda later naming her band Tattermask. Because if you remember, Chet...uh, I mean Chip, the DJ, says she sings.
This is because Amanda Cane is based on Amanda Caines, a friend and talented singer I know from when I lived in Rock Hill, SC. I wanted to use her band's music in the book...so I asked for permission. She gave it and thus, the characters of Amanda and Alicia Cane were born.
