Admittedly, Beth hadn't been in true civilisation for YEARS. At first, she was racking her brain to see if she had heard that before. Maybe it was an American thing? Maybe it was a new thing yet to reach the island until Jason showed up? But even then, it didn't feel right.

A grin met her lips before she LAUGHED. It was from the gut, and she had no doubts that he would find it obnoxious and annoying. A hand came to cover her mouth as she paced a few steps away from Jason, then, spinning on her heels, she paced a few steps back towards him.

"Oh, that is brilliant, amigo!" Beth beamed, clapping at him. Mocking him. Practically asking him to do something stupid. "Isn't it something about a penny? Like, uh, y'know. Head side up, pick it up, and all day you'll have good luck!~" Did she sing-song that rhyme? Yes, she did. And she looked to be positively having fun here.

        💸 ║ ❛   —————  With  a  single  movements  of  his  hand,  he  signals  to  Santiago  to  get  the  requested  ice.  All  the  blood  on  Jason’s  shirt  is  acknowledged,  yet  Lance  leaves  the  thoughts  in  his  head  for  now.  It’s  clear  that  he’s  got  the  job  DONE.  That’s  satisfying  to  say  the  least.  But  when  the  McDonalds  paper  bag  is  presented  on  the  table,  Lance  furrows  his  brows.  That  was  not  part  of  the  agreement,  but  maybe  Jason  just  likes  to  work  like  the  ANIMAL  he  is.

There were so many places on this land that were meant to be holy.      Hᴇ's ɴᴏᴛ entirely sure why they are having this conversation. Again. It's like Jason really believes his choices to be better and this holier-than-you approach is getting on his nerves. You know? People in glass houses and throwing stones and shit. Maybe if he breaks it down in real, real simple terms.

“Yes I can,” Grant deadpanned at his younger brother. He glanced away from Jason only to meet the pleading gaze of the camp counselor, then back to his brother, “Jase. It’s only a week. Listen. Riley’s gonna be here, too, in cabin 5 and I’m gonna be with the guys in cabin 9 if you get lonely.”

He rested his hands on his brother’s shoulders as though that might help convey the gravity of his words and place some responsibility there, “Mom has had to work really hard to take care of us and to afford to send us here. She deserves a week to herself to see friends or rest or pamper herself. We’re gonna have a great time and we’re gonna make friends and, most importantly, we’re not gonna worry or bug mom with calls about how any of her sons are trying to hitchhike downstate. She needs this.”

He let his hands fall away away and smiled, but it didn’t reach his ears, “Besides, I heard they have a zipline and some bad ass climbing areas. You’ll see, this week’ll be great.”

"You're not from around here," He observed, tone holding curious playfulness, steps pausing as he flicked ash from the end of his cigar. Hammer, which was slung over his shoulder, was adjusted in his grip so he could hold it with further ease.

Metal sheets, bolts, smaller chunks you'd usually miss or ignore rose into the air and seemed to bounce of their own volition. He considered how SIMILAR this was to Ethan's fiasco, and for a moment he wondered if they knew each other. This guy coming in to save Ethan - - he did look similar to how Beth described someone she was tailgating once, when she was working for an unnamed organisation that dealt with bioweapons ( good to know the world was still FUCKED beyond the confines of the mountains ) .
