If taskmaster doesn't post the video of the nyc live show with Lisa Gilroy, Seth Meyers, Jason Mantzoucas, and John Oliver, I am going to start biting people
I am VERY VERY late with this post. Sorry. It has been a weird time at university.
Honestly, I can barely remember the night. I remember very clearly seeing just Greg's foot coming to touch the ground. I saw his striped socks and I knew it was them. I remember it slow motion. Very surreal. Then Alex Horne turned to us and said he'd see us inside (fig. 1).
Watching Taskmaster with a group of people who were already incredibly hyped was amazing. It's sport, it's hilarious, it's hilarious. Greg on the screen preemptively telling us we'd ruined his night was a treat. One detail is there weren't any interstitials in the screening we got.
The Q&A I genuinely don't remember that much. I was actually quite close (fig. 2-3). At some point I sort of forgot they were there and real, but then Alex Horne's hands were just, so much more vivid than usual. They were perfectly in sync. They have their dynamic down to science. I remember very clearly when Alex said he thought Greg was going to kiss him. And when Greg looked at me nodding to confirm something he said. And the whole business of the spinny chairs (fig. 3-4)
They left and went somewhere else for about 40 minutes. They were in their normal clothes when they came back upstairs (fig. 7). I was shaking the whole time and felt a bit bad for Greg since I didn't have any paintings of him with me. He said "next time" when I asked him to sign my painting, but they came up with a nice solution when I said to do it anyway. Alex said my painting made him look like his dad ("in a good way! In a good way."). When I asked to sign a zine I had of little sketches of him he opened it to a random page towards the end, and when I pointed it out, he said "of course!". He was very cute about how to pronounce and spell my difficult name. After we took a photo, I shook both their hands in a highly business-like manner and then essentially turned around and ran away.
10/10 night.
