I created a few task flows to show the different stages of how a user would use the final Bookmark prototype. I created these on my iPad using Procreate.

Read Designing for the Digital Age chapters 14 & 16 (Goodwin):

You may skim the Project Management sections (pp 385b-389 and 473b-476a)

Pay special attention to sections that discuss principles, process, roles, and challenges.

Complete the redesign of the key path (taskflow) for Renewing a Driver's License ('future now' not 'future next').

Create a vector version of the one we generated in class Thursday.

Sketch out the branch portion of the key path with (at minimum) 1. the taskflow mapped out and 2. requirements codes (from the Google doc) annotated where they apply in the taskflow.

Each requirement code should be annotated at least once in the whole key path.

Bring these to class and pin them up by 3:10 Tuesday.

Talk to potential users of your interface:

Why do they (or would they) engage in the process? What is the value of the process to them?

How do they carry out the process? What activities and tasks do they perform?

Document your findings.

Articulate your interface's epicenter:

Ground your epicenter in the user input outlined above.

Describe 2–3 core features that support user goals and activities.

Be clear and concise (max 150 words to articulate your epicenter).

Revise and refine your your taskflows:

Derive your taskflows from your user input and core features (above).

Determine: Does each feature need a separate taskflow?

Use verbs to describe tasks.

Use a visual language to describe nuances of your taskflows. (Refer to Communicating Design chapter 6: Flow Charts.)

Place your user research findings, epicenter description, and taskflows in a tidy document. Content must be legible and readable.

Refine your taskflows. (Refer to Communicating Design ch. 6 in Dropbox.)

Complete your heuristic evaluation of the DMV website and Lakewood branch. 

Include an overview: What can the user do here? Does the interface support user goals?

Include strengths, weaknesses, opportunities (See whiteboard photo in Dropbox for what we discussed in class.)

Include your as-is taskflows

Include any explanatory or descriptive sketches

Should be more than one page.

Print and export as PDF.

Sketch a taskflow representing the steps, decisions, and any filters involved in the process you are prototyping.

Use a pen or sharpie. Do not use digital tools.

Refer to Communicating Design chapter 6 for explanation on flowcharts, the industry-standard way of representing taskflows.

Represent a flow of actions, not an organization of information.
