Cancer's are loyal, emotional, and empathetic to those around them. However, a little-known fact is that Cancer's receive especially therapeutic benefits from being on or near the ocean. The presence of water can completely rejuvenate them, especially if they're going through a more trying time.
A Cancer needs to know that there's security in the relationship, so they are usually not into casual dating or dating multiple people at once. They prefer to foster deeper, emotional connections, which is part of why they might be a little guarded at first.
They're ruled by the Moon, the heavenly body associated with emotion, so when they fall for someone, they fall hard. It's not easy for Cancer to fall out of love and just give up one someone — unless they break Cancer's trust, then all bets are off.

As soon as they had said goodbye to Chip and Sera, Isabelle had left her children in the care of a trusted avox so that she could watch the bloodbath without the worries of them watching it or asking questions. She remained silent, having ignored the other mentors as they began to filter into the viewing room as the screen lit up slowly revealing the childlike arena around them. “You’d think after all this time they’d cease being able to surprise me.” she muttered to no one in particular as she placed a hand on her swollen stomach, wishing for once that she wasn’t pregnant so she could get a drink about then.Â

hand to hand: good, a lifetime of fighting and sparring with his brother combined with working on the wheat fields has made him quite strong and fairly good at hand to hand
machete: good, same as above it’s a weapon he’s familiar with
Rye had spent the morning easing his mother’s worries, that her youngest son wouldn’t be reaped and that in a few hours they would be home again and with the worry of the Games over their heads for another year. Rye’s name would never be called again, a fact that gave his mother some comfort, and with his younger sister Maisie turning seventeen, she had just one more year before she would be free too. Maybe luck was finally on their side again?Â
He knelt down to his younger brothers’ level, neatening the messy job he had done with his tie whilst Maisie combed his hair. Harvey was silent, eyes wide as he looked up at Rye. “I won’t be picked will I? Like Milo was?” he asked quietly, voice barely a whisper as Rye sighed in response, briefly catching Maisie’s gaze before he pulled his brother into a hug. “I won’t let anything happen to you--” he promised softly. The loss of Milo had been hard on all of them, but with Rye there was the over whelming guilt that he hadn’t been able to do more to help.
Finally, their mother appeared at the door. “It’s time.” she murmured, as Rye stood up and took Harvey’s hand. “C’mon kiddo, let’s show them how it’s done.” he told his brother as he lead the way to the reaping. Harvey was quiet as Rye explained the process, how his younger brother had to join the other twelve year olds, with their twin brothers following in the row behind him at just thirteen. Buck and Dale were unfazed by the solemn tone of the day, still mischievous as ever and having to be pulled aside by Rye to shut them up. Â
Finally, the escort appeared on stage, Rye even commenting offhandedly to his friend that he appeared to be drunk, which wouldn’t surprise him. If he had to lead children to their deaths each year he’d be drunk all the time too. But those thoughts soon left his mind as Marcus’ hand dipped in the bowl for the girls, calling some blonde whom barely registered in his mind. He didn’t recognise her in the slightest, had never even see her until then. His eyes were too focused on the bowl containing the boys names, his whole word freezing as one name was called out.Â
“Harvey Amaranth!”Â
He could barely hear his sister and mother’s sobbing, eyes drifting to a shaking Harvey and a hand beginning to appear as Buck began to step forward. No, no he wasn’t going to stand by and let this happen again. “I volunteer.” His hand was up, voice cutting clear across his brothers as he stepped forward to volunteer, placing a hand on Buck’s chest to shove him back into the crowds and stop him from volunteering for their younger brother.Â
He didn’t look around him as he walked up to the stage, barely said a word as he was lead off stage and to a private room in the justice building. His mother came alone, and he swept her into his arms. “Just come back to us.” she whispered softly, and he nodded. “I’ll be home soon.” he promised, kissing her forehead as Maisie lead their siblings in. It broke his heart to see them, Harvey sobbing silently as Rye dropped to his knees in front of his youngest brother. “You just look after yourself, okay? Don’t take tesserae. Don’t watch the Games guys, I’ll see you soon. I love you all.”Â
As a parting gift, his sister pressed a chain into his hands, recognising his father’s wedding band on the piece of jewellery. She didn’t say anything else, merely nodded as Rye pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead. “See you soon.” he whispered as the peacekeepers began to lead him away.Â
