“Mr. Sterling, How do you polish silver?”
I polish my silver with Silver Polish.
In the photo above I show you the products that I have used for years.
Wright’s Silver Cream- It works, I like the lustrous finish and my display pieces stay polished for about a month.
TarnX- This is a very strong liquid. I only use it on fork tines or a piece that has been stained. Be ready to rinse it off immediately or it will continue to remove layers of silver.
I wear disposable Vinyl Gloves. They are much lighter than dishwashing gloves so you can feel the piece you are polishing in your hand. They also keep the odor off my hands.
A can of Compressed Air is so useful for getting moisture out of wheels, hinges, and joints. It is important that silver be completely dry before you put it away.
Hagerty Silver Protection Strips, These aren’t for cleaning but I do put them in my drawers, cabinets and storage chests to help prolong the polished finish of my silver.
Whenever you use a new polishing product be sure to read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
