Tarn’s voice can also be used to heal, as Optimus gets to find out. Now the why…Thats more complicated.
Optimus has two hands. One for Tarn and the other for Starscream.
Optimus goes undercover as a new Decepticon recruit. He obviously can't just act like himself, so he draws on his knowledge of Megatron's personal beliefs and philosophy to create a persuasive image of a dedicated follower, unintentionally making himself seem more loyal than about 90% of Decepticons in the process.
Tarn sees a passionate new recruit that speaks of Megatron with the reverence he deserves, and decides that if he can't have his beloved master, this mech is the next best thing.

In general there's such an evil nice post war Optimus x Tarn dynamic one can accomplish with a redemption that feels like pulling ever regrowing teeth over & over again and the impacts of the same mech hanging over both mecha's heads
Even though I haven’t actually seen a fic of it I love cracky versions of Tarn/Optimus. Specifically Idw Tarn getting Isekai’d to any no/pre-war au. He tries to find Megatron but along the way he rizzes Optimus/Orion Pax.
Could be TfOne where Orion finds this Megatronus in-personator cool.
Could be an actor au where Optimus is glad to find someone who’s just a big fan of the celebrity Megatron as him.
Could be Tarn going to some random archive to find Megatron and Orion is captivated by this strong mech and wonders who this ‘Megatron’ is.
Could be Tarn trying to gain the love of Megatron but Optimus is clearly in love with Tarn so Megatron is subtly pushing Tarn to Optimus’s way.
Could be fucking Cyberverse where Optimus needs his daily Toxic Yaoi or else he dies or something.
It is important that this isn’t on purpose. At most its Tarn finding out Optimus has a crush /afterwards/ and trying to use this as a way to gain the upper hand against the (potentional) Autobots.
