do you think he's the same afterwards? I mean, I know he won't be the exact same, but like
do you think he still has the same compassion? Do you think he would like Lydia? Or maybe he would be jaded, a little too quiet afterwards, a little too distant, quick to play devil's advocate because "we all know what happened the last time we offered our help"
Omg you are my first ask about the AU :D thank youuu!!
Glenn suffers a lot after the lineup, he's out for a week after the incident, dragged to Hilltop and hooked up to an IV and unconscious. There's worries of brain damage, being stuck in a coma that he won't be able to wake up from. He does but he scares the hell out of the group. Normally people died quick and fast, rarely did they watch one of their own die slow and in reality they don't know if he'll pull through.
They hope he will. That's Glenn Rhee.
He always comes back. Always.
Glenn doesn't remember what happened at first, the blow was almost enough to kill him. Was enough to kill Abraham. But he slowly pieces it together. Moreso after he sees his own reflection.
It's a big hit to his self confidence. He can barely look at himself anymore, and it doesn't help when he can tell others are staring at him too. When he catches them quickly looking away, no shame other than being caught in the act. He covers his left side of his face up, though a simple bandage isnt enough to cover the damage, he goes back to wearing caps with their bills tucked low to hide his face. Worried of people being scared of him, worried of his unborn child being scared of him. He doesn't know what Maggie sees in him anymore.
Mentally he's different, more reserved and quiet, a bit blunter and sharper. Hangs back from the group, watching from the corner. Glenn's not as much as the semblance of hope anymore for the group, dashed and lost.
He's cooped up at Hilltop and Alexandria, not trusted to be their supply man anymore, not trusted to be on the walls or kill walkers. Within good reason too. He's snippy, has a bite, sick of someone trailing behind him. He's fine. He's fine. They don't do this for Carl after he was shot in the eye.
Even though both of Rick's sons have lost the opposite eye, Carl doesn't have serious migraines or developed epilepsy from his injury unlike Glenn. He holds a lot of internalised ableism towards himself because he could do these things just fine and now hes not allowed to? But if it was someone else he would be understanding. But because its him? It's like a shot to the head. Always pushed by his parents to be the best, pushed by shane to do runs for the group constantly.
Glenn holds himself to a high standard and when he can't achieve that anymore, its devastating to him mentally.
lil doodl,,
I do not know about Lydia unfortunately, despite knowing glenn's fate, i have only watched up to ep 12 of season 6 and read up to issue 102 ish in the comics?
