Tarascosaurus was an abelisaurid from the Campanian stage of the Late Cretaceous, about 80 million years ago. Not much is known about this animal even though it has appeared in Dinosaur Planet, depicted in it as the top predator in southern Europe at the time. However, there aren't a lot of remains of the animal, simply the upper femur and tail vertebrae. However, Tarascosaurus is unique in that it is one of two members of Abelisauridae that is not from the southern continents but rather, Europe. This shows that the range of Abelisauridae was much wider than previously supposed. It was found in the Fuvelian Beds of France, and there are also remains in Spain. However, its placement in Abelisauridae is under question, as in 2003 studies show that the bones lack unique abelisaurid identifiers.
