July 29, 2009 • June 14, 2017 T-ara, or Tiara, the queens of the Korean Music Industry, debuted as a 6 member group and is leaving with a final comeback featuring 4 members.
2010, around summers, luckily did I find out about K-pop and had no clue I would indulge in way too much. T-ara is my first favourite second generation girl group. Jiyeon, my ultimate bias. Qri, my bias wrecker. Soyeon, vocal queen. Boram, small-soft human. Hyomin, mad sexy. Eunjung, my sister’s bias.
I would write a piece tonight on the last day when my girls are stepping out of the industry, as a group. I am glad to have known and liked a completely different genre of music, for it has connected me to a new world. When we, fans, are looked down upon because we love music of a language that is un-understandable, we endure and take in the criticism but do not show disloyalty to what we love, just because others wouldn’t agree to our choices.
From Lies, T-ara’s debut single to What’s My Name, their final comeback. From Music Show wins to Best Girl Group Awards. From topping the Gaon Charts to Billboard Hot 100 Charts. From selling massive amounts of Digital Albums to having most viewed MVs. From being the FIRST Top K-pop girl group in China to releasing countless Japanese Singles, Albums, and we can talk about their breakthrough popularity, hard work, enthusiasm, and loyalty to their music and fans. T-ara is the group that has inspired many. Their talent has prospered throughout the journey. Their love and loyalty to each other, and their fans, have always been their number one priority, like every other K-pop group. I love how they have fit in and their music has worked out for them. Despite the troubles and downfalls, they have received genuine love and support from us, Queens.
However, we hate to see the groups that once introduced us to this beautiful family-like world of music disband, split, and step out of the industry. We also feel sorry till the end for not cherishing the moments, not supporting at our fullest, and for not investing in our maximum potential. We are sorry because where at times, when the idols needed support, we were not really enough to offer a helping hand. But despite all the ups and down, we stand firm. We stand together with our favourites. We, fans, are more than happy to have discovered our favourite groups. We genuinely have supported, and will always support. We will cherish the memories, go back in time, will live the music that our groups produced, and that’s when we are ought to labelled as true fans.
Queens, let’s make this week T-ara’s week and help them win, because they deserve the world.
