The night sky. It always felt so, calming. There were other things that calmed the cat more, but none had been present as much in his life as the night sky. Looking up from where he sat, resting against a downed tree. Felled by some force of nature recently that had mangled the area around it. Though, as with everything in nature, the area had already begun recovering.
His thoughts trailed back to the sky, having been distracted by the thoughts of the previous hurricane or tornado that had cut a scar across the mountain. He gazed upon the distant void. Watching, feeling, knowing, each and every star and object he could see from where he sat. Focusing, he could feel more and more, and ignored sight entirely. Such a near useless thing to him by this point in his life, but it did still have its uses and perks. Gazing upon art, the worlds around him, or the things he cherished most, always gave meaning to keeping his sight.
With a grunt, he pushed up off the log with his arm before slowly standing. His ashen fur more than just it’s natural color, but an easy stereotype to point towards his old age, even if he didn’t age normally, such a stereotype was useful from time to time. Once he’d stood, he’d brush some leaves off his coat and pants before resting his hand in a pocket. Looking back up and closing his eyes to go back to feeling into the night sky. Feeling every atom or sub atomic particle that zipped through the vacuum. It was like watching a painting or sculpture be sculpted or created before him. Always, so calming.
