âYou wanna talk to her?â Domitia whispered quietly, Tannerâs gaze didnât dare look away from the girl from Seven as if afraid sheâd disappear. Pupâs tribute is too enraptured with her district partner to notice, there is something tense in her stance, something uncomfortable that the mentor canât place. She chuckled at the awestruck look on her tributeâs face, perhaps Pupâs little idea of an alliance would be profitable.
Now, that would make most sense given the girlâs obvious strength. Better she ally with another strong tribute, so that they could both pull through and all that.
âI⌠What if she doesnât wanna talk to me?â There is a tremble to his voice as the boy from Seven settled his head on the girlâs shoulder. Whispering something to her as Pupâs tribute hid what could only be a smile beneath her hand. Coy and sweet, as if in reference to something only she knew. Glancing back at her tribute she knows he is lost.
Lost in his own thoughts of this peculiar girl who drew his interest; Domitia takes a breath and managed the best smile she can. If it was going to happen then let her tribute make the first move.
Better the factor she knew than the one she didnât.
âGo on,â her voice is soft and she gestured toward the girl, Tanner inhaled sharply and nodded. Pupâs steps seemed to echo as the other mentor knows his presence long before he settled himself down across the bars. His girl is still distracted by Vipsaniaâs boy, before she finally seemed to notice Tannerâshe paused and tilted her head curiously. Her own boy looked so utterly lost as Pupâs girl offered the tiniest of smiles to him.
It was actually quite sweet to see. Tanner began to move decision obviously made as Domitia clears her throat. âTanner!â Her voice is sharper than sheâd like, as she anxiously wrung her hands together and finally sighed, annoyed, defeated. âDonât⌠Donât come on too strong.â
Her boy wore his heart on his sleeve, it was natural she had some concerns because of it. Her tribute just nods and hastily scrambled to his feet; eyes boring into him as he moved towards the pair from Seven. She hears Pup stop next to her as he too seemed enraptured by this strange little display.
Tanner stops in front of the girl just as she looked up, Domitia doesnât know what they say. Just that the girl leaned forward a teasing smile on her face and her district partner swiftly got up and left at that. Clearly, whatever the girl had said had rattled him somewhat.
âSoâŚâ Domitia begins with a small grin, âabout our tributes being allies?â
Pup huffed and turned back towards that girl of his, âIf sheâs alright with it then I see no problem.â
âI think the way their conversation hints towards it right?â Her classmate looked less than impressed but said nothing. Just fixed his attention back towards their tributes; his little fighter and her butcher. They made for an odd pair, but one that could be the most interesting to see in the Arena.
âWhat are we going to do about Vipâs boy? He could prove a problem.â Pup grumbled, clearly dissatisfied with his girlâs fondness for their friends own tribute.
âYou heard Vip when she was complaining,â Domitia said with a grin. âHer boy has never worked in the lumberyardsânot like that girl of yours. It wonât be that hard to convince that your girl to ditch him if heâs dead weight.â
âLaminaâs stubborn.â Pup began uncomfortably, âMaybe that boy of yours can be of some assistance there. Knock some sense into her?â
Domitia hummed and sighed, âMaybeâŚâ
Only time would tell really, just how this whole thing between Tanner and Pupâs girl would turn out still Domitia couldnât help but root for them. Even if she knew theyâd likely end in tragedy, it was nice to hope perhaps.
