EUGENE GOT TO SWEAR
After reading Rootbound. I've came to notice something about Rapunzel. I thought it was just the series writers railroading Cassandra for plot, and being bad at writing Eugene at times. But then Rootbound also seemed like it tilted to this direction as well.
Rapunzel has tunnel vision when it comes to people.
While she can do groups, and people try to put her into trios (series) she does ultimately better in duos.
When put into trios or groups, she has her focus divided, and as a result one of the trio or the group is left out, or put to the side.
When writing her, the various media tend to have a leaning where she puts all of her undivided attention on one person at a time when both/all are around, and only switches when the the current focus is absent.
She can care about more than one person and be friends. And also help several people. But her priority can only be one at a time.
Is this a character trait, or just all of the writers having to force narrative?
Omg, I was already excited to be second in line for the physical copy of Tangled: Rootbound at my library, but Libby just sent me a notification that the ebook copy has opened up for holds now too and guess who got position 1 in line for it 😎
So to those that have now read Rootbound. You can probably now guess that when I wrote this about the Flynnigan Rider books being a series vs standalone , the other literature that made me think about it was Rootbound.
Since it went with it NOT being a series.
Though I am still confused on one thing. Eugene mentions not seeing any other copies of TToFR in the wild in like chapter 2, and later that Astera banned it. So ARE there other copies of the single book, but hidden? Or is it implying that the one he has is the only singular copy that remains?

I finished Rootbound!
It is well worth the read and everything we wanted and more. It was beautiful, well written, and will totally inspire more fan works no doubt.
So anyone still on the fence about reading it. DO SO!

Imagine rating a book bad because you don't understand how canon works even when the author told you it didn't involve the series.
Also as one who has read Rootbound. No, it's not diet moonstone.
