HAPPY NIM DEATH DAY!!!!!!! Also Ig happy birthday to the corruption, I hope it dies soon, and uhhhhh rip nightmare.

OK SO LIKE  I HAVE FOR THE LONGEST TIME NOTICED THE SIMILARITY BETWEEN THE TWINS AND EPIC/PACKS. 

Their entire lives have been dictated by the idea of  “You have no worth unless you prove it”. Basically, there is no such thing as unconditional love, and as a result, all of them were born from the idea that they had a purpose to fulfill, and if they couldn't fulfill, they were inherently worthless. The twins were forced to be guardians of a tree that basically granted the entire multiverse emotions and as a result were forced into boxes that they had no control over and constricted who they wanted to be and what was expected of them.  

Dream was expected to help others regardless of his own personal feelings on the matter and nightmare was treated as the devil incarnate for yknow, protecting the negative side of the tree feelings, despite the fact that he had:

1. no say in the matter he was created for this purpose. He didn't ask for this

2 was a literal child and wasn't actually evil, he just protected the tree.  

And then you got epic over here who's entire purpose is to train the eye to become stronger and work as a test subject in hopes of breaking the barrier I just-

Just, Gester teaching epic while he grew up that “I created you for this grandiose purpose, why aren't you happy? Don’t you know that if you’re enough, you’re going to free an entire race of people? Why are you not happy you ungrateful piece of crap?”

I think the saddest part of this comes from the fact that gaster did not care about him at all like god

This is seriously why I headcanon the idea that when it came to chara/frisk, epic quietly hated the notion that they were the hope of monster kind because at the end of the day they are still a child and they should not have the weight of an entire species of people on their back. Neither of them should have to be constantly reminded of the fact that if they fail with human communication, something that they have a severe trauma with, (maybe epic knows about this maybe he doesn't or at least he has hints towards it knowing how observant he is), it could spell the doom of monsterkind as a whole so the fact that they're basically putting this on this child infuriates Epic because that's exactly what happened to him and look how he turned out. 

It's also why I believe that dream is the same way. He can't empathize with his own situation because he hates himself and he believes he works in a different separate part of rules as in I can work myself down to the very bone to the point where I'm passing out from exhaustion, but if I see someone skip a meal or talk bad about themselves, that is unacceptable. but in one way or another, Dream is unconsciously projecting onto frisks and chara’s when he hears them be told the whole “oh yeah, they're the hope of the monsters” because that's exactly what dream was told.From his very creation he was always reminded that all positivity was hanging in the balance because of him and after 500yrs of being stuck in stone and with his brothers murder, he’s now told all of the multiverses emotional balance depends on him.

None of them had any free will and choice in what they wanted to be in life,  and it's even more tragic when you think about the fact that any attempt to step out of that resulted in either extreme emotional trauma,  or death (True nightmare for example). 

And then as an added bonus, you got XGaster, who created all his creations for the sole purpose of creating a perfect world without any care towards their body/mind autonomy or personality or what they wanted so not even cross and his family are safe from this scheme. 

I think it's even more tragic that when you take into consideration the circumstances of all these children, none of them could actually escape. Epic was trapped in the boundaries of the underground, so if he ran away, there'd nothing come from it other than punishment. Not to mention he was basically trained on the idea that he had to be a martyr for this cause.

I am now haunted with the tragic imagery of Epic running away from the laboratory that he was raised in only to be hunted down and found by Gester who tells him to “Get back inside, there's no point in running. You're just an idiot for doing that and now you have to see what it's like when I'm angry.”

This entire part puts a whole other angle to the scene where he actually stands up to Gester in the no pain no gain comic, because he had to be losing his ever loving mind to even THINK about attacking/threatening Gester.

I'm pretty sure gaster pretty thought right then and there “Wow, that eye must be making him delirious if he has enough guts to do this to me. Dang, that's crazy anyways, sucks to be him.”

And then you've got the twins who are stuck to dreamtale, literal children like not even 5 years old who were born into this and told from the very exist from the very beginning that this was their existence, and this is what they had to do, no matter what, so it's not like they could escape. 

And even if they somehow thought of doing so, where would they run? They didn't even know what lay beyond the village and the tree of feelings, and since the whole multiverse was riding on them + their attachment to their mother/tree of feelings,  they didn't really have much of a choice but to stay. I do think Dream and Nightmare’s possible relationship with Nim or at least the understanding that she's their mother and therefore a source of comfort had something to do with their choice in deciding to stay and protect the tree. And by that I mean outside of their duty in which they were told they were created for and instinctively knew upon being created that that's what they were made for.

And then you've got XGaster and xtale, where everyone is trapped within this au is constantly watched which is seriously terrifying and no one talks about it. It’s honestly full blown horror. And not only that but only but even the wider multiverse they're not safe, because Slenderman’s cousin could just pull out his shiny purple button and zap them back. This is literal nightmare fuel when you think about it.

Things that I can take from this are the fact that coincidentally all these creators are connected to each other one way or another as Ms penaloza is still friends with yugo, and once was friends with Joku,  and the fact that every single one of them tackle similar themes. The idea that of worth and that you aren't worth something unless you prove it, the forced expectations of others onto impressionable youth and people through threats and outright manipulation,  and the installment of the belief that the deviation of the goals and wants of their superiors only leads to pain and harm, while deciding to obey leads to arguably worse. 

There is no place for self expression, only blind obedience and to be used as a puppet and if needed-

Discarded.

Here are some other things about epictale i would love to actually have be explored, and if you somehow read through the past three freaking post that currently make up 17pg in the google doc i used to proofread them, thank you and Zuzu thank you for talking to me about epictale. Seriously i love re-reading our older conversations about them and they legit got me kicking my feet over how good your stuff is like fish fuowfh uwfi ewhuihLOWH898EW  AHH YOU MAKE THE BEST HEADCANONS.

-epic mettaton/ghost fam and their past 1000yrs of being alive or at least what the world was like before the monster human war and what both societies looked like.

-Literally anything yugo said about the monster vs human War, why it started in the first place  and was there some deeper reason as to why other than Humanity found out monsters could absorb human Souls and feared they might do it for malicious reasons?  because like hello? We cannot gloss over the fact that monsters were being kidnapped to be slaves. 

-The interesting details in the crossover comic, like XToriel having her eyes closed the entire time until being shocked into opening them by epic!Frisk. The question is why does she have them closed? As that would imply that in this point in time the entire cast is already gone through some sort of emotional psychological trauma for her to do so, as toriel is described with her eyes closed in order to become blind to the world around her so she doesn't have to face the reality that she's stuck with that they're nothing more than pawns towards XGaster’s game (see her character lore on Jael’s blog and 0.8)

-  the fact that in the fight between the Gasters, Gester has both yellow and purple eyes DESPITE epic still having his… hmmmmm

-The question of when describing the entire crews power level and on the topic of Frisk, is their power level of 100,000  in correlation to their body right now as a child or like their full capacity for power? 

- if they're that strong why did it take so long for Gester to take over their soul.. . I mean does that mean that determination and power level aren't in correlation to each other?And what are the implications of this.

- Also I do wonder since Epic Gaster can actually look through Epic eye and see what he sees,  I wonder if it's only limited to sight, or if he can actually hear. Probably not, but it would be terrifying if he could though and that’s why he keeps his eyes firmly shut, but even if he’s not looking at someone, if Gester can hear what they're saying it could make things worse. 

Hello fellow Epictale fan and friend, I wish to ramble on our shared special interest if that’s okay 🫶

“The strongest MONSTER in history vs The strongest HUMAN of today”

That quote made me pause and I’m like “wait what were their power levels? Is that true?” And I deepdived and made a list to try to understand.

Power levels for the Epictale cast are:

Napstablook: 1

Alphys: 10

Frisk: 100,000

Chara: 200,000

Epic: 420,069

Lara: 500,000

Mettaton: 600,000

Mad Mew Mew and Muffet: 700,000 (Bc they are “equal and besties”)

Packs and Asgore: 800,000

Undyne: 900,000

Gester (no Eyes, no human Soul): 1,000,000

Asriel: 10,000,000

Gaster with Frisk’s Soul and the Eyes: 100,000,000

Toriel: 100,000,000

Toby/Fox: YES

Toby the Giant Dog is the “Saitama” of Epictale and the rest of the main cast are S-rank heroes facing the God level threat that is Perfect Gaster (Gester with Frisk’s Soul and the Eyes)

So Gester is the strongest monster in history, but his power levels in the past had Toriel as stronger than Gester, with or without Frisk’s Soul.

It’s an exponential jump when he’s acquired the Eyes from Epic and Packs. Combining both their power levels however is a little over 1 million. Which means another 9 million unaccounted for

I think it comes from Gester unlocking the Eyes at their maximum potential —> Epic took decades, but barely made leeway bc he’s terrified of the Eye. His power level is what it is thanks to the Eye helping boost his Stats, gave him the blasters, shadow magic, etc. But the Eye’s potential has increased, it’s accessed power limited.

Packs was born with the Eye at its fullest potential but never used it —> so Packs’s listed power level is independent of the Eye.

Meaning that once Gester took both Eyes, and is now using them to their maximum power —> that’s given him absurd abilities that make him “a god level threat” — like the ability to create black holes and alter space time and reality (smth only Mad Mew Mew has shown power to do with the cosmos, and yet her power level is middle tier of the main cast) by making monsters into Goners.

Which means that, had Epic and Packs utilized their Eyes to their maximum potential, they would’ve been the strongest monsters in all of history, second only to Toriel.

If Toby has powers to win in just one hit, but Toby isn’t classified as a monster-monster, is he some kind of eldritch monster, maybe? 🤔

And Napstablook being a ghost like their cousins but somehow the penultimate weakest monster before Epic got his Eye, is interesting. In Undertale Napstablook does admittedly have far lower ATK and DEF than Mettaton (10 vs 47), but it really shows why the cousins are protective of them so much, because they’re literally the most vulnerable ghost.

Apologies my dear friend for the late reply, life's been insane and so has the weather (-11C is crazy annoying, especially with the icicles on my house and the possibility of burst pipes (we got lucky though so woohoo!)) 

Honestly it's super interesting to see how power levels are used within epictale. Most creators try and stray away from that because in the end it kind of results in this sort of stalemate where if you understand where a person's power level is, the entire fight is pointless because you know who's going to win, but I think honestly Gester (more like yugo) may be using this to his own advantage. The main cast (and by extension us the readers) are very much aware that this is a battle that they can't win and therefore all we’re waiting for is how the main cast will survive, or rather who’ll survive and the end results getting us hyped for the final battle. 

At first glance the whole system honestly it kind of reminded me of the Sukuna cycle from jjk if you're familiar with the manga/anime. Spoilers for later chapters but basically the series has a bi-weekly publishing schedule during its last few runs, and in the end we had the final battle against the big bad the readers were often frustrated as they had to deal with a constant cycle of a person shows up, fights the big bad, gets defeated and then a new Challenger appears- and since this was coming off as a bi-weekly thing (AKA every two weeks you'd have to wait for a new chapter to come out) with this function it became tedious. 

Now that it’s over with, people who now read the entire thing in full say it's a lot more bearable, but honestly for epictale, it never really read like that. Even though the updates were slow, at the end of the day we all knew that this would be a moot point in grand scheme of things because we all knew how the story was going to end to a certain extent, like the moment Papyrus died we all knew that everyone (and possibly even toriel since we had no clue how truly powerful she was) were screwed.

I think what I'm trying to get it is that we should give props to yugo for making it clear that the main point of Epictale isn’t who's going to battle Gester next or how we should be hyped for such battles, but rather what is he planning. At least for me as a person reading the story I was constantly thinking about what is going to be Gester’s next move. Yes, the entire series does scream Shonen action manga and takes a large amount of inspiration from it, but it doesn't take away from the fact that at the core it's a mind game more than anything.

The only thing is, it's just that we aren't really aware of the pieces and stuff that's going on in the background.  Unless Gester were to say something out loud or think something on screen, we have absolutely no idea what he's planning and what his end goal is. I mean okay, he succeeds in destroying Humanity. 

Now what?

I mean like he's obviously plotting something, but what??  And I mean like he obviously has to have some way of bringing back everyone who's been murdered as well. Something to think about is the fact that epictale is still functioning under undertale’s rule set,  so I suppose the next course of action would be going up to the surface collecting seven human souls and then I don't know, become God and rewriting the entirety of epictale? ( i mean even then he better not mindwipe everyone but unless he did, it doesn't explain everyone’s nonchalant feelings toward him despite the war crimes he’s committed) 

But he obviously wants to prolong the fights in order to keep everyone entertained. The interesting thing though is the fact that it's sort of wishy-washy because of course he doesn't have everything truly planned out. Laura’s existence was a shock to him but it makes it sound like there's something other than himself pulling the strings. He explicitly says that he wasn't expecting characters outside of undertale's Canon to show up,  so if not then who caused it and why did he have reason to believe that?

Honestly I wonder if this is just some part of it's a part of some Grand conspiracy where Yugo basically talked to him and said hey I want you to give me a real fun show and you're going to be going up against the main cast and if you do a good enough job I'll leave you guys alone and wont wipe you out again :D

Lol I kinda find it funny if this is true because it just means that God went down, talked to him, and said hey, I want you to put on this clown costume thanks and then dipped and Gester was so mortified by the conversation with a being that's beyond his comprehension that he went okay and started jingling his bells. 

Also just realized that this is a super funny parallel to his Canon variant which is heavily implied to have created Deltarune, meaning that canon Gaster is a God trying to talk to and communicate with this otherworldly person so much more powerful than him like their equals, while Gester still having the Creator title is genuinely terrified of them and trying to appease it, aware of how absolutely powerless he is in comparison to yugo and by extension the readers might. 

Only for all of us to get solo’d by Neutral frisk as yugo doesn't punch kids.
