Hi talls! Good to see you too :)

Answered here! I’d come up with something else except that I am very vain and enjoy my writing process too much to want to change it much 😂

For heavy heart in particular, I really want to avoid making the kids feel like props or plot devices and instead make sure they are characters in their own right, with their own personalities and motivations and interiority that exist independently of their parents. I also try to avoid straying into either fluff or darkfic; I prefer to linger in the shades of gray and balance lightness and grimness within my stories, though of course most don’t fall exactly in the center of that. I also try to avoid telling too much or trying to feed things to the reader.
Because I need to. I post fic because I want to engage with other people on the themes and aspects of a piece of media that interest me, but I write fic just to kind of process my thoughts and feelings and dig into what about a story/book/show/movie really stuck with me and why. I have so many little snippets of fics that never really go anywhere because I only wrote as much as I needed to in order to do the things above. It’s rare that it becomes more about the fic itself than it is about processing things from the canon, and that’s when I decide to publish: when my own story really grabs me by the throat.
