Honestly, I planned for so much to happen with Haruhi that I had to abandon some plotlines because they simply wouldn’t work. Partly because in my head she wouldn’t cooperate, and partly because chapter 10 had become massive enough.
I don’t think anyone noticed this one, mostly because it was a throwaway line in the first chapter and wouldn’t really connect until about eight more chapters. Anyway. The Fujioka family was supposed to move houses again. The apartment nearby the Kasanoda place was pretty cheap (because of the aforementioned people) and was only temporary until Ranka could get himself a steady income again. The apartment was small with only two bedrooms. In my head, it looked close to the canon apartment because of the general Tokyo aesthetics, but not the same. A whole slew of shenanigans was to occur because of Haruhi moving before Ouran, not in the least the yakuza community running around because she was moving into thug territory with mostly lawless teenagers ignoring their sempai. This would devolve (or evolve, considering Haruhi) into the whole place getting labelled Neutral territory.
Also, some honey cupcake bakery sale that was to be attended, or else.
There wasn’t enough room for this plot line though, and really, Haruhi couldn’t see any reason to move away. I’m still not sure if where she’s currently living is the canon apartment, but... Eh. I don’t mind so much. And I don’t think any of my readers mind that much either.
I might revisit this idea later though. With all that working Ranka’s been doing, he might appreciate living closer to the city.
