     “where are we supposed to go? i’ve never lived anywhere else. and my bakery...i don’t wanna get her in trouble, but i can’t just drop anything, can i?” he glances around his shop, knowing she was right. “how long do we have?”

      “leta, i’m fine,” he insists, brushing her comments off. he should be used to the noises in the kitchen by now, but someone had knocked down an entire wall of metal dishes. he knew he wasn’t back on the battlefield, but something in his brain was still off. “which ones did you want again?” he asked, his voice softer as he turned back around to face the woman. his hands were still visibly shaking, but he didn’t want leta fussing over him.

       It was obvious that he had made her uncomfortable. That wasn’t his goal, of course. He was still getting used to Newt and his band of magical friends, and Leta had always confused him the most. She seemed to be so notorious in the wizarding world for a reason he couldn’t place, and Queenie seemed hesitant to accept her. However, Jacob could only spot good things about the woman. She was quiet, yes, but thoughtful and deliberate with her actions. “Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know much about ya, except for what Queenie has said,” he offered with a shrug. He was sure he didn’t have to say the blonde woman was cautious around her. “This ain’t a quiz or anything, I just wanna get to know ya,” he said, giving her a bit of a smile. He felt as if he was talking far too much about himself.
