Vamdemon Arc - Digital World
I’m splitting the Vamdemon Arc into Digital World and Real World to make it more digestible for these mini Takeru breakdowns.
This arc starts off strong in the Takeru suffering department. 22 is a mostly Takeru focused episode, with only a little less screentime than his solo episode 12. In terms of content, it adds a loooot of depth to his character and can be considered a ‘losing innocence’ type of event.
Episode 23 is a Yamato episode, and while Takeru doesn’t show up until halfway through he still gets a high amount of screentime, as he tends to do in Yamato episodes. Bit of a rough one, his brother yells at him, he gets attacked, Jou almost dies saving him, you know. Fun times.
Episode 24 has essentially no Takeru. He pops up briefly at the end when he and Yamato find Koushiro, but it’s veery brief. Episode 25 is the Princess Mimi episode and is completely absent of Takeru. After the double hit of 22 and 23, kid did deserve a break.
Episode 26 is Sora’s episode and while he doesn’t get a lot of main screentime, he is important in this episode as he’s the one who’s able to convince Sora to join them again. He’s a very sweet good boy.
Episode 27 has the standard amount of Takeru for a non-focus episode, and showcases some of the changes from episode 22 with him wanting to get rid of PicoDevimon so they can move on. Quite a shift from the pacifist he started as (though PicoDevimon is a little bitch and deserves it).
Episode 28 is similar to 27, though the Takeru moments are of a higher quality. Some cute reactions to Gennai’s house, and a reiteration of the importance being together is to him (”even if we end up in a different world we’ll still be together”). Too bad the rest of the series has the kids split up more than they’re together. Sorry Takeru.
So yeah, bit of a mixed bag. He’s absent from a fairly big chunk of this mini-arc, though he also gets some very strong moments that add a lot to his character with episode 22, 23 and 26. As a whole, I’d consider it a strong arc for Takeru.
