"Made in the image of God, we were created to take responsibility for certain tasks. Part of taking responsibility, or ownership, is knowing what IS our job, and what ISN'T. Workers who continually take on duties that aren't theirs will eventually burn out. It takes wisdom to know what we should be doing and what we shouldn't. We can't do everything." -Boundaries . . Probably one of my biggest flaws is thinking I can/should do more than I am able to; too often I find myself in a state of exhaustion and exasperation when I realize--once again--that I've bitten off more than I can chew. People tend to think it must be because I'm either super hardworking or too popular--or both--but the real root of the problem is not knowing how to prioritize my life in a way that places my personal role and responsibilities over those of others. Although it's all fine and dandy (and fulfilling!) to have a heart to help others, I'm gradually (and gratefully) realizing that it isn't my job to try to take on everyone else's responsibilities *before* taking care of my own and fulfilling my own purpose FIRST. Only then can I truly honor God with my time and my gifts, and only then can I also be a more effective helper and friend to others who may need it. . . Don't get me wrong; I'm definitely not saying it's bad to have a heart for others, or to lend a hand or a shoulder when your friends need it! But it's important to discern that part of helping and caring for others IS taking care of yourself--eeps learning how to say no sometimes 🙊🤐--and knowing that you're not meant to be anyone's savior (that's why we call Jesus Savior, not me or you 😉). Just some food for thought. What are you being called to do today? How are you fulfilling God's purpose for you, not others'? #priorities #madeinHisimage #Hispurpose #takereponsibility #ownership #JesusisSavior #notus #reflections #hkviews #hotels #dancinginpictureframes 🙆🏻 (at Whampoa 吉之島)
