Ta fatt vs tafatt
In Norwegian, the expression "å ta fatt" (lit. to take grasp on) means rougly the same as "to take on" or "to embark upon". It is especilly common in the context of starting to do something:
Jeg skal ta fatt på denne oppgaven i dag: I will take on this task today; I will start this task today
For ti år siden tok hun fatt på sitt livs reise: Ten years ago, she embarked upon the voyage of her life
When merging the two words together, an adjective is formed. However, this word's meaning is the complete opposite of the former example: to be hard to ask to do something, idle, sluggish, or indolent.
Han er så tafatt, han gjør aldri noe på eget initiativ: he is so idle, he never does anything unless you ask him to
