The main antagonist of the novel, playing villain in everything that goes wrong in the book. She appears cute and naive like a child everyone loves, but to the protagonist, she is very manipulative, getting Gangle into harm all the time. Her pinwheel eyes seem to hypnotize people to get on her side. 

Before Gangle had been hired, she had been engaged to Jax since childhood. To Jax, she was just a childhood friend, but to her, he was her everything, the only one who she truly cared for. However, Jax slowly starts to hate her throughout the novel for bullying Gangle. 

Beneath it all, she is a broken person who takes out her emotions in the wrong way as her ‘father’ taught her nothing other than what will benefit themselves. The reason Pomni hates Gangle is because she thinks Gangle took away her only source of happiness, her childhood and only actual friend, who ends the book executing her. 

Meets Jax at the age of 12 and experienced love at first sight 

People think she went ‘abroad’ when she was 14, but she was really dragged to her family’s countryside manor so that they could ‘discipline’ her to be ready for her crowned princess role for the next few years. After she returned to society 5 years later, she was like a different person. She used to be innocent and kind, but she became hot-headed, cunning and gets physical with the maids (she doesn’t show it to the public cause her ‘father’ would kill her) 

Behind the archetype the novel gives her; her ‘father’ abuses her, forcing her to do whatever he wants. He hits her in spots that cannot be seen (e.g. under normal clothes). She can’t tell others as the King hates when his people ‘show weakness’ and would uncrown her.

Zoey wrote the novel after her own problems: Gangle as an orphan stands for her feeling disconnected from her family, Jax was written for what she thought would be her dream partner, having others love Pomni but only she knows how manipulative she is stands for the bullies in her school. 

The birthmark of a bow under Gangle’s eye and on one of Caine’s teeth (and on Ribbit’s right palm) is because Gangle is, well, made of ribbons, Caine and Ribbit has a bow in the canon series sooo hehehe 

RAGATHA STANDING UP FOR HERSELF (IN ORIGINAL NOVEL) 

Ragatha finally speaks out against her arranged marriage with the old marquess. Her hair was grown long as the marquess liked woman with long hair, so she cut it right in front of him to protest. She is left with shoulder length hair and a friend (Gangle) who took her in after her own family disowns her in a fit of rage over the lost marriage. 

POMNI ENTERING THE NOVEL 

Pomni wakes up in an unfamiliar bedroom. She freaks out when a woman who claims to be her lady in waiting greets her as ‘your royal highness’ and freaks out even more when she looks in the mirror and see those pinwheel eyes that she recognize as Pomni’s and realized that she was in the novel, as a villainess with a tragic end. 

POMNI AND ZOOBLE TALK 

Pomni was having a hard time adjusting to her new life. New rules, new body, new memories, she might as well had started from square one. As she was walking around the unfamiliar halls of the palace, wondering and dreading how she was going to survive, she bumped into someone. A person with mismatched body parts and a uniform Pomni's original counterpart recognised immediately. The crowned prince and her fiancé's personal knight. Zooble. 

She apologises and they go their separate ways but see each other aain when they both hid in the royal garden during a ball. They talked a bit and bonded over how much they both hated social events and Zooble became Pomni's first friend in the novel, though Zooble technically cannot express their true thoughts due to the difference in their rankings. 

POMNI FINDING OUT THAT SHE ROMANTICALLY LIKES JAX 

Gangle’s and Ribbit’s (and Pomni’s) father. He was a very honorable duke and warrior as his house was known for being the first and few in the kingdom to have powers in a very long time, with the others being Pomni and Gangle, but he had more powers than them. However, the once invincible house fell after it was ambushed by hooded men when Caine was still resting after he got injured at a battle. He managed to hold them off with his family while his daughters ran but were severely outnumbered as they did not have many soldiers themselves. He managed to use the last of his energy to get himself away but could not tell if his daughters and wife got as lucky. 

He is now the kingdom’s royal secretary after The Great King ‘found out’ what had happened and took him under his wing. He doesn’t go to parties and show himself at all, grieving his loss. His mental health is also poor. 

The crowned prince and only heir to the kingdom. He is the perfect prince for the kingdom, or so everyone says. Tall, handsome, smart, a typical prince inside a romance novel. He, however, secretly despises his role as he had to pretend everything was fine in front of other nobles, keep an eye out for assassins 24/7, etc. After Ribbit was gone, he also closed himself off from others, only slightly opening up to Pomni but completely shut down interactions after she left. 

Met Pomni when he was 15 and she was 12, a year after Ribbit was gone. He thought she was supposed to replace Ribbit and disliked her a little, but slowly warmed up to her as a friend. 

He absolutely HATES his father with his entire soul as he has seen every evil he had done. Although he doesn’t physically hurt Jax, he hurts the people around him and says that he is to blame, causing Jax to believe that he is a monster 

Born into a cold family, she grew up without knowing what warmth is. Her parents only taught her what she needed to become a perfect doll (literally and metaphorically) and never stopped to check on how she was doing. That is why she got attached to Pomni so quickly, thinking that finally she had someone who looked at her as a friend. However, as time went on, she realized that Pomni was also using her to bully Gangle, but it wasn’t until much later that she had the courage to stand up against her and befriend Gangle instead.
