Rereading those posts definitely sent me down a thought rabbit hole of how the tradition COULD have started. And so, of course, I got to thinking about Selkies (cuz I absolutely love them) and how "ooh! wouldn't that be interesting if they were convergent evolution mermaids but adapted to a different biome?" and that the tradition therein came about as a way of either honoring those stories or was common enough at one point to have just bled into the culture through osmosis.

Then my brain took a full ADHD turn and I started cackling imagining that the "gift giving" ritual for useful tools could be related to the mating rituals of PENGUINS and I got caught up in the hilarity of the boys giving the person they like a bunch of shiny rocks (or coins, you know... from a coin collection) jssfghgh.

13. talk about a writing experience that has pleasantly surprised you.

I’d have to say the amount I write sometimes. Like anytime I get into the zone just baffles and amazes me. Sometimes I can types thousands of words and just as amazingly struggle to type a single word.

Anytime I get feedback feels wild to me, maybe it’s bc I don’t post it haven’t been posting my writing anywhere but when I get feedback I’m just o.o lol

🙏 - Favorite episode?

Honestly, my favorite episode of One Piece is one the doesn't appear in the manga, it was after the events of Enies Lobby and Zoro essentially gets adopted by this weird lady and her clan of kids. Probably one of the funniest freaking episodes I've seen and a filler I actually don't mind for once.

🏝️ - Favorite country/island visited?

Skypiea and the cloud islands were such a cool concept that I feel hard pressed to feel any wonderment for any of the islands since. Like they are all different in their own ways but there's just a certain fascination I have with floating islands and flying that I can't escape from. It's magical to me.
