new ink day! i got the taccia ukiyo-e sets inspired by the colours in hokusai and hiroshige's prints. after cleaning out my pens, i took some time this evening to swatch them all with my sailor hocoro dip pen on tomoe river paper and on a clairefontaine triomphe notepad. i ended up inking some of my fountain pens with sabimidori, asahanada, naka murasaki, and ruri. 🤍

This is a Taccia Natural Reserve Scarlet Landscape Bamboo Limited Edition fountain pen from 2018. It's about 5 7/8 inches long capped and is number 04/50, marked on the base of the barrel. Only 50 pieces in this color were made. The hard rubber cap and barrel were first coated with many layers of Urushi lacquer and then hand carved, creating a geometric pattern inspired by woven bamboo pieces. Each pen took 90 days to produce. After the carving was complete more layers of Urushi lacquer were added and then polished.
