Veronica can feel the heat from the flames caressing her skin, running its thin orange fingertips along the sharp edge of her cheek. She knows that she shouldn't be standing this close to the fire, but it's absolutely mesmerizing watching the building be engulfed in flickering warm tones. Part of her wants to reach out and touch it; The rest of her knows better than to do it.

She turns to face Cheryl beside her, whose standing a few inches closer to the building with a wicked grin on her face. The reflection of the flames makes her eyes appear red, and for the briefest moment Veronica feels a chill slither up her spine.

She turns to face the other way.

Instead of watching the fire, Jughead and Tabitha are both watching her. She supposes it's because she's so much nearer to everything than they are, or maybe they're feeling too overwhelmed to look. Killing the devil himself and burning his shop is a lot to handle, afterall.

Tabitha sits at the edge of his grave, holding a bouquet of roses close to her chest. “God, Jughead. You just had to die on me, didn’t you?”

She doesn’t say anything else, her tears streaming down, salt in her mouth and not a care in the world anymore. She couldn’t be happy again.

“Mind if I join you?” A voice behind her asks. Tabitha whips around to see Veronica, in all black and a veil covering her face.

“What are you doing here?” Tabitha asks, wiping her eyes.

Veronica sits beside her. “I’m here for Archie. He’s the only one I felt really close to.”

“What about Jughead?”

She shrugs. “He was a good friend in high school but we never talked much after 7 years.”

Tabitha nods. “Understandable.”

Veronica doesn’t say anything else, so Tabitha turns back to the grave and places the bouquet in front of Jughead’s grave.

The wind blows softly, the petals of the roses swaying by force. The air is chilly, which only makes Tabitha shiver more.

She feels a hand on her shoulder. She looks to Veronica. “Let’s get out of here, okay? I can see this isn’t your best look.”
