Budget Friendly Halloween Table!
There are so many ways you can get into the Halloween spirit without breaking the bank! Which I'm definitelyy all for.
FOOD:
'Blood bath' - @heinz_uk Tomato soup but you can buy any brand. I bought 3 tins Heinz for a ÂŁ1.
'Witches Brew' - Watermelon flavoured @drinktango although there are so many spooky mocktails you can make with juices!
Coffin cake - Home made vanilla sponge (recipe below) and I used a Mr Kipling Orange Vanilla Cream Icing which was ÂŁ2 for a tub. Any generic sponge is fine, just cut into a Coffin shape and decorate as you like.
White chocolate fingers, chocolate balls, Halloween sprinkles, Strawberries, bake your own bread, mozzarella and tomatoes - @aldiuk
Pumpkins - home grown in my Nanas garden.
TABLE DECOR:
Table Cloth, Bird Cage, glass stickers, mini light-up Pumpkin, Bonez man, Spiders Web - @poundstretcher gifted.
Large black Pumpkin - bought previously from @aldispecialbuysuk
Napkins - @coopuk
Chair covers - a local shop called Bargain Buys for a ÂŁ1 each.
Ghost garland - ÂŁ1 Bargain Buys.
Spooky straws - previously bought from somewhere, under ÂŁ2.
Mary Berry's Victoria Cake
INGREDIENTS -
â˘4 free-range eggs
â˘225g/8oz caster sugar, plus a little extra for dusting the finished cake
â˘225g/8oz self-raising flour
â˘2 tsp baking powder
â˘225g/8oz butter at room temperature, plus a little extra to grease the tins.
METHOD -
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Grease and line two 20cm/8in sandwich tins. Use a piece of baking paper to rub a little butter around the inside of the tins until the sides and base are lightly coated, then line the bottom with a circle of baking paper.
2. Break the eggs into a large mixing bowl, then add the sugar, flour, baking powder and butter. Mix together until well combined.
3. Divide the mixture evenly between the tins: this doesnât need to be exact, but you can weigh the filled tins if you want to check.
4. Bake the cakes on the middle shelf of the oven for 25 minutes.
5. The cakes are done when theyâre golden-brown and coming away from the edge of the tins. Press them gently to check.
6. Cut into a Coffin shape and you can decorate accordingly! đ¸
