So despite the disruptions to classes, U of T admin *still* hasn't set any further bargaining dates and continue to claim that there are no severe consequences from the strike; then they cajole us to see grad students as entitled (with an insulting "Here are some facts about UofT grad student support" as if what the union tells us isn't fact) and have the gall to say they're "disappointed."

Wow, U of T. Every tutorial I know of is taught by TAs. I now have a single prof running 6 lecture sections. At least own up to how much this affects us.

TA strike

I get that you want more pay and you definitely deserve it but I'm so tired of articles saying they are underpaid. THEY ARE NOT. Yes most are grad students paying for tuition and costs but some are undergrads. And I am also paying my tuition which is just as much if not more than your PhD degree. And mine costs 4 years whereas yours is just 1-2. You earn 19,000 which is below poverty line but I earn probably half and I work double your hours so stop complaining. If you want a better job, you won't find one. 42$ grading papers and sitting in an office is amazing. Try standing for hours on end for 15$ and then complain because there are thousands of students waiting to take your job for half the pay. For the union dealing with associate professors, maybe the deserve better but for the collective agreements regarding TA, it's a waste of university resources.
