Puzzles || Fernand and Thomas
Fernand didnāt understand why the Cardinal wanted Thomas gone so desperately, he was just doing as he was told. āHis Eminenceā had insisted upon meeting in a church of all god forsaken places, much to Fernandās annoyance. Either way, he knew what he had to do, and heād been told enough to make the plan work.
Fernand didnāt get too heart broken over what he had to do. He just had to get Thomas Conde out of the city to his mother for a little while. How bad could it be, bringing a son back to his sick mother? If Fernandās father were still alive, he couldnāt imagine being parted from him for such long stretches of time. Whatever mischief the Cardinal was up to, this didnāt seem like it should hurt anyoneā¦
A little note had been left for Thomas to puzzle out, definitely not written by Fernand since the lettering was actually legible. Some poem that would capture the manās interest, bringing him to where Fernand would be waiting outside the northern gates of the palace.
He had settled into a hiding place, a spot with good visibility but where any passing guards wouldnāt see him. When the young Conde approached, he waited a moment before calling out to him. āYour motherās not doing too well, is she?ā He moved out of his hiding place, taking in the young man face on. He was well dressed, clearly wealthy. Fernand appearance compared to Thomasā would be comparable to rat next to a peacock.
āExcuse me, monsieur. Iām Fernand Baptiste. I was thinking I might have something you want.ā
