if one can't recover when theyre still in a traumatic situation, but they cant escape their traumatic situation (systemic), how does one find recovery ? or will they just live without being recovered, only ""managing"" the every day trauma?
This is a good question.
Systemic trauma can't be escaped. For minority people there is no safe place in this world. As a result, there is no recovery, there is only survival mode.
This does mean 'managing' their symptoms of trauma. This also means, people of privileged classes, and groups recogonising and educating themselves on what systemic abuse/trauma/oppression/violence all of these things and more, and how they can change them. Then do the work to change them. As those in minority groups have consistently vocalized it isn't their responsibility to educate others.
Everyday. Every. Single. Day. Minorities are traumatised again. They challenge their abusers. They defy a system that they live under. They fight for their survival.
People need to find respite where they are able. Where ever they find this space it must be honored. Those with privilege need to defend it. Even if they don't understand it, and aren't allowed in to it. Their lack of understanding isn't an excuse or justification to discount it.
I don't have a decent answer for this question.
