Anyone else seeing the person playing Bad Apple via ascii art on the syscourse tag?
Now that everything has died down, this is a list of reasons I participate in syscourse:
I have found a group of people I really love interacting with. This list includes but is not limited to @okiimii, @ecos-syscourse, @artisticdysfunction, @thecircularsystem and @cambriancrew!! These people post a variety of things that range from making me cackle at my screen, ponder my own existence, rethink my internal biases and fall more in love with myself and my system.
I find syscourse fun. Genuinely fun. I like reading people's opinions, I like seeing the memes. I enjoy writing my own longer form opinions.
TW: self harm, skip if needed. I have and continue to use syscourse as a form of digital self harm. I do this with many websites and tags on tumblr, as a way to make myself feel bad and guilty about my existence. It has replaced other forms of self harm and so it is both a positive and negative thing. I am working on it.
TW over I participate in syscourse as a way to contextualise and cement my opinions in different topics. I tend to avoid the emotionally fuelled arguments and the bait blogs because they aren't helpful or fun to me. I write my essays and I read lots, especially as my reading ability fluctuates and I'm working myself back up to being able to read medical papers for fun.
I find syscourse a better community than pro endo or anti endo tags. Both those spaces make me feel uncomfortable as a mixed origins DID system with spiritual origins and created headmates. I feel like I'm not a system the "correct" way in either space and I do not enjoy my time there. So I stay in syscourse.
It's something to do when my mobility is low and I'm in pain and I can't find anything to do, I can write about my system. And it helps with the healing. I'm so much farther in recovery than I was even a year ago. I've lost friends, it turned out to be for the better but it hurt at the time. I've done specialised therapy, I've worked on my physical health. My gap year for my health has worked. And syscourse was part of it.
if i seem to randomly follow you after you interact with me in syscourse, it's cause tumblr hides a shit ton of system blogs from me in the tag so i follow so you'll show up
