I would say that yes it would be easier to learn but those absolute top ranks (senior international) are still something you have to be young to break into. There are definitely more options for older skaters in synchro especially so I would say try out and see if you enjoy it and if you do then go for it!

With the Olympics on everywhere I look (which don't get me wrong, is amazing) I just feel the need to put this out there. Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the IOC and father of the modern Olympics, famously stated that "The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well." Dear IOC- the decision you made to not include synchro in the 2018 Winter Olympics goes expressly against everything Coubertin stood for. That decision stopped 200 athletes from taking part in the Olympic Games, and told many, many more that what we are told on a regular basis, that we are not 'as good as' the other figure disciplines, might as well be true in the minds of the heads of sport. Not to say that I am anywhere near the best in the country or that I deserve to go to the Olympics, but, please, make the right decision next time- not only for the hundreds of athletes, coaches, parents, managers, who put hours upon hours into this sport, but also to keep it alive.
