This further confirms a suspicion that I've had for many years now, one that many musicians already know if they've had any hits. For those who don't know this group, their two most popular songs were featured in the video game (more of an interactive story, really) "Life is Strange." If you don't know the game, you ought to check it out. Definitely one of my favorites of the past few years. Anyway, as far as I know, neither of those two most popular songs have been prominently featured anywhere else. So, only about 5% of the number of people who listened to Obstacles listened to I Might Float. Why so few? Their other tracks are pretty similar in tonality to their hits. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some sort of indie rock crusader trying to extol the virtues of this band or any other. I'm just curious why you wouldn't bother checking out the other stuff if you enjoy one or two songs by a band. Is your interest in them really that superficial? Are you just that lazy? I've been at a few concerts and watched people leave after the band played their single, or else just stood around instead of rocking out the way they did to the single(s). Dear Fuck, that's so goddamn sad to me that you would actually go see a band live just to see one or two songs performed. I'm sure you could give me any number of excuses, like you were just there to keep your significant other company or whatever, but wouldn't it be in your best interest to familiarize yourself with the band's other stuff so that you're not bored out of your mind? We could all stand to explore more in our day-to-day lives. As a Lyft driver, I'm often taken to areas of my own state that I'd never even heard of, and I try to find new music fairly often 'cause it makes all the driving less like a chore and more of an adventure. Anyway, yeah, we should all go further, delve deeper, and you can use the new year as motivation. TL;DR (I fucking hate that TL;DR is a thing, by the way): Maybe try listening to more of the music of the bands you like.
