Kilwan here, writer of the Nathan defense blog, and I can't keep this news off my mind. I'm not sure if many will read through this, but here's my thoughts on the upcoming Life is Strange live action.

• Not the same writers •

So I knew right away that the creators of the original series would not be involved and that if anything, we may pick up the same writers of the newer game, Double Exposure. As much as this pains me, the original creators made the choice to sell the franchise, knowing others will butcher it, but money is money, I guess. After a bit of research, I found IGN had made this blog lowkey, proving that the show may not be like the game at all.

Some people like change, though. There are a small number of people who genuinely liked Double Exposure. They're honestly better than me because they're able to watch all versions of media and find a way to like everything regardless of how much the writing changed. I for one am just too stubborn and passionate about the original series and I hate that it kind of butchers all the hard work originally put into it and someone who's a Nathan defender I just KNOW they're going to butcher his character so badly. He's such a complex, well-put together character that even now people still mischaracter him, but you can read that giant blog I wrote if you're actually interested. I don't want to kill your time right now.

• Maybe there's hope •

Amazon Video is personally one of my favorite streaming outlets as they brought me Good Omens, The Boys, Vox Machina, and Invincible. (Huge Invincible fan, btw.) They haven't failed me so far with these shows (maybe The Boys), but maybe, just maybe the show will be better than anyone ever believed.

Maybe it won't happen at all. Reminder, streaming services don't really want to put money into something that won't make sales. This was all just barely announced. We may not even get the series at all, but let's see how it goes. Off topic, but why does it HAVE to be live action? Is animation dead these days? Also, are they gonna butcher Life Is Strange 2 as well? Honestly, maybe I'm glad it's not that popular, I would go completely bald if they ruined my favorite game of the series.

• Closure •

I know I should just sit around until the series comes out before I make any opinions or judgment, but with how fast the franchise dipped after the second game, I can't help but worry and ponder. I tend to take the game quite seriously to the point that I was defending tooth and nail when people misunderstand or spread misinformation about characters. I have many enemies in this fandom, trust me. I guess you can say that I'm a passionate-obsessed-overthinker or autistic I'll take either.

This is for my Nathan/Warren defender followers, the followers that read my blog. The most goated of the goats. As you know, I played the first game numerous times to write that blog. I did my best to lay everything out that Nathan wasn't really the villain and doesn't deserve the same amount of hate that Jefferson deserves. Someone else did a blog on Warren, so that made it easier for me, but Warren was already painted pretty badly in the fandom, so his hater list is quite large as well.

What I fear with this live action is the writers giving into the accusations of "antagonists" like Nathan, Warren, and even others. They have the power to make anything "canon." They can easily make Nathan a SAer and make Warren an actual stalker or freako like others think he is. They can even go as far as to put more empathy on Jefferson, which would be terrible but not surprising. They've done it to other show adaptations. They can write Jefferson however they want to.

Why do I care so much about these two characters? It's not exactly the characters themselves. It's what they stand for. I think Nathan is such a great example of what drug abuse and what psychosis can actually do to a person. Any person. Our system is failing, and people with these mental issues are ignored by society, doctors, and law enforcement. Instead, they're pushed right back onto the street where cases USUALLY end with them harming and mostly KILLING someone! I can speak about this all day, but if the system were to focus on helping those suffering mentally, maybe many killings could have been easily avoided. I tend to go rant mode on this topic, so I’ll cut it here. Go read the blog if you want to hear more crash outs.

Warren is a prime example of socially awkward males, and it pains me to see people paint him as a freak-stalker and using a nightmare Max had about him or his taste in movies as defense or even the "window scene." I can go on about this, but the other defense blogs already did the crash outs for me. I grew up with a pile of cringe boys. We were all friends in high school all the way up till now. They seem like freaky weirdos to normies, but they simply have no idea how to act sometimes. I can't defend much here because it's such an unspoken topic that normal people will never understand. Once you act any differently from the average person, you are immediately shadow banned and lumped alongside actual psychopaths even if you had no ill intentions... They're just not the same as you.

No matter if you’re in jail or rotting as “worm food”, I hope you’re living it up, Prescott.
