They are stronger together, yes, but Caroline is in love with someone their so-called friends would crucify her for, and Bonnie is realising just how broken she is - and neither one of them wants to go back to before.They hold each other, and they will survive this storm - but Caroline is right. They have crossed a bridge and - "I don't want to go back," Bonnie whispers. "We've seen the other side, and I don't want to go back."

She can feel the blonde’s tears drip down and into her hair. She has no energy to lift her hand, wrinkled and shrivelled and old in a way Caroline never got to be but made sure Bonnie would have the chance to be, and wipe the sadness from her best friend, her sister's face.She manages to move it a little to clasp at the blonde's wrist, and Bonnie smiles. Her green eyes, still as vibrant as they were when the two were little girls, shine bright as she whispers, "You're the best person I've ever known." She squeezes, gently, "It has been an honour to be your friend, Caroline Forbes."And her energy is spent, and she sags back into her friend. Caroline's arms wrap around her and the two sit there in silence as they wait for Bonnie to slip away in her sleep, safe as she can ever be in the vampire's arms.
