Prom this year will take place in the beautiful ballroom in Swynlake’s own Town Hall. When you first enter the Hall it will be dark, with glowing blue lights and stars hanging from the ceilings, as well drapery on the ceiling and over the walls.
The great hall has been turned into a dreamy cloud for you to float away. The dance floor is covered in thick, swirling fog machines that look more white and like real clouds (thanks to some weather sorcerers!) There are also large iridescent bubbles floating through the entire ballroom. They are larger than normal bubbles you might blow and harder to pop (they’re enchanted!) So, they might just bump off you as you dance or hang out.
The ceiling is draped with pale blue tulle, like the sky, and the entire ballroom is lit in soft golden light, like a sunset. It’s not super bright, but still light enough. There are lots of fairy lights that look like little stars. Big fluffy clouds made out of cotton and paper mache hang from the ceiling. In the center, there is a large disco ball that will send glittering light all over.
Some activities include making your own cotton candy in the cotton candy machine (blue and pink!) There is also a photo op station with a dreamy background and a little crescent moon you can sit on. There are also plenty of dress up options that harken to the different AUs: a pirate’s hat, cowboy hat, a bow and arrow, a few crowns, swords, etc. Additionally, one of the walls will have a large white canvas. There is a little table with stars and you can write dreams onto it, any memories from past AUs are encouraged!!
Around the outside of the dance floor there is seating at high top tables and regular round tables, as well as the buffet table. One of the best pieces is the back right corner, which is like a little tent (mostly sheer but still). Inside you will find a ton of pillows and cozy blankets. It’s enchanted to be a little cooler and you’re welcome to take your shoes off and take a break from the dancing. It’s big enough to fit about 10 people at a time, so don’t hog it for the whole night!
The food tables are decorated with little cotton clouds and stars and glitter, as well as some iridescent orbs. All the cups, plates, bowls are clear and iridescent. Utensils are plastic, but gold. There are gold tiered plates to hold various small sandwiches and dreamy, fluffy cupcakes. There are various other dessert treats in rainbow colors, fluffy pastries, and lots of fruit! There are also two punch bowls: alcohol and nonalcoholic. One is a pink (non) color with that sparkly swirly stuff and one is blue (alcoholic) with sparkly swirly stuff. Both have floating flowers and fruits in ice orbs.
Come celebrate the end of the school year with the von Drakes. BYOB!!!
WHAT: The von Drakes are hosting an informal gathering at the far side of the Lake (away from the usual beach) to day drink and celebrate the end of the academic term! There will be swimming and shenanigans.
WHO: Mainly university kids, but friends of uni kids and anyone who wants to crash is welcome! NO SNITCHES!
