Obsessive!Yandere!Hotaru Haganezuka with a Clumsy!Tsuguko!F!Reader:
#Tags: Obsessiveness, possessiveness, he builds you fragile swords, you're Mitsuri's tsuguko, you're clumsy, implied killing
Demon Slayer:
You're really nervous. You see, your previous personal swordsmith went down with some mysterious illness you think it was natural?, so Haganezuka Hotaru, like the obsessed hard-working man he is, took on the task of making your blades. Why? Because it's your blade he wanted to.
He made your swords diligently! Your name carved into the blade, the colour of your nichirin metal appearing spotlessly, and most of all, a comfortable handle suited to your style! He never paid such attention to any sword before. And now, you've gone ahead and broken it. It broke a bit too... quickly?
At first, Hotaru would just glare at you and snatch the blade back from you, muttering something along the lines of "clumsy girl" and "more effort needed". However, he'd give you a week to collect your new sword after. You were ecstatic! He didn't seem too disappointed, and you were getting a new sword again.
Though, this new sword? Well, it broke too. In three days. This time, you thought that you were genuinely too clumsy with your swords but an inkling of doubt remained that did he make them fragile on purpose...?
The moment you walked into his swordsmith shop, your broken blade in your hands with a downcast expression, Hotaru felt fury consume him whole. How dare you break his valuable sword again!? At first, he let you off easily. Though, now? He spent so much effort in making it for you!!! Stupid demon slayers. They never value the blades hard-working swordsmiths make for them. He thought you'd be less clumsy because you were the tsuguko of the love pillar! Mitsuri never breaks her swords. Yet, you broke yours under one week. Damn it. This is so annoying or maybe it isn't. Maybe he intended for it to be this way, it's all a guise of anger, don't fall for it, Y/n—.
"You! Girl! How dare you show your face here after breaking my sword the moment you got it!?" The irritated swordsmith growled at you, watching you flinch slightly. Good. You should be scared.
"I-It wasn't my fault! I broke it while I was practicing slicing dummies," you gulped, inhaling before locking eyes with the enraged man in front of you, "if anything, aren't you at fault for making me such delicate swords?"
"Why, you—" Haganezuka sneered, cutting himself off to glare at you with the fury of a thousand suns, yet fury wasn't the only thing you could notice in those flaming orbs of his.
"You're accusing me, the master of sword making for you demon slayer lot, of making you fragile swords on purpose?!"
"Yes! I've noticed it twice, you make Rengoku-san and Mitsuri-san, or any other demon slayer, such sturdy swords that they only break when they are met with the neck of an upper moon!" You glared. "If you are so capable of making such amazing blades, what happens to you when you have to make mine?"
"Shut your blasphemous mouth, woman," Hotaru glared back at you, yet the scowl of his face melted away into something way more intense and personal, "don't accuse me of such things. It's your fault for being bad at handling the swords I make you."
"No. You make it that way on purpose!" You huffed.
"What if I do? What will you do about it?"
"You're so— wait. You admitted it!?" You gasped, noticing his frame crowd you against the wall as he twirled a strand of your hair between his calloused fingers.
"Hmm. I'm just saying. What if?" His eyes seared into yours.
"What if? Then I'd change swordsmiths instantly! I need a man who builds my swords perfectly for fighting, not fragile like a paper—"
"You're won't. Not allowed. I am your swordsmith, and I will make your blades. No other options," Hotaru pinned you down with an icy glare.
"Then make them properly," you sighed in exasperation, "I wouldn't need to change swordsmiths if you made my blades perfectly in the first place."
"Fine. Let me work now," turning away from you, he grabbed your broken blade, keeping it away, "I'll make your whole sword again. Happy?"
"Yes! Thank you. Make it properly this time," you beamed, turning around to run off to training.
As Hotaru moved to sit at his building station, he reached for the chest on the side, opening it to toss your broken sword hilt into the sea of broken hilts from all your past swords, made by his unfortunate fellow swordsmith, stored in the box.
"Oh, Y/n. What would those beautiful eyes of yours reflect once they find out that I make all your blades delicate on purpose? All so once they break again and again, you'll need to return to me in the end. You can never escape me, darling."
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this little headcanon fic. Hotaru sends you some dango 🍡 Do send requests for more! 🤍
