dealing with my first service for a kid :(

#sword.work #he's only 16 :( he passed at the beginning of the month it's a really sad situation :(#his poor parents have been so sweet mom will talk to us forever and ever when we call her bc she just wants someone to talk to #bc the dad is understandably shutting down about it. it's just really sad #it's a really upsetting situation bc if this damn county would try to do anything right by the kids this could've been prevented #his body was released from crime lab so we got him cleaned up and ready for his parents to finally see him #it's so jarring to see a kid in our prep room. he's just a baby :(#I have a feeeling this is gonna be my first cry at work event

HER VOICE IS VERY LOW AND POLITE REALLY?????????????#like you don't want the car that transports your deceased mother efficiently and respectfully??? how do you plan on getting her from the #funeral to the grave??????????? you gonna jam her casket into a truck bed?????#look lady you're the one who left your mother in a slow cooker of a house for days without checking on her your anger is very misplaced rn #we already took off embalming from the charges bc we literally cannot embalm her BECAUSE YOU LEFT HER IN A BOILING HOUSE #wait how is there not an investigation rn bc if she was still in her house I assume one of the kids was listed as a primary caregiver #is this not grounds for whatever you legally call death by neglect 🤔

Ok so pretty gross funeral home work story

We have an old lady who was found after being dead for 2 days in her house with the HEAT on in her house on top of the usual Mississippi summer weather. Needless to say her body is not in good condition. Swollen, discolored, kinda melted, etc. Cannot be embalmed it's that bad. Her daughter is INSISTING on seeing her mother's body. We are like ma'am you will be mentally scarred for the rest of your life if you see her like this. Like if you insist you're gonna have to fill out paperwork to not sue for the mental distress you're gonna put yourself in

The body is currently at our main location out of town being as prepared as it can be, and my coworkers were like. Amber you said you've never seen a body in bad condition before. And I haven't, I've only seen embalmed bodies. So my coworker was like okay so I have a picture from a call we had to take in a similar environment where he was found in a camper after a few days, so if you'd like to be prepared for when we bring her here, I will show it to you. Sooo I now know what a body in that state looks like. I also don't think I'll be eating lunch today.

But I'm now kinda prepared for what is likely the first of the many "old people found slow cooking in their homes" calls that come in the summer 😭

my uncles mom passed this morning and my uncle went to our rival funeral home dammit if you weren't already technically disowned by divorce I'd disown you again

#funeral home jokes aside aww man :( even tho uncle has remarried like 4 times since my aunt left him his mom still treated auntie as her #daughter and sent hellos to us all the time :( she was a sweet little lady #I wonder if I can go to the service. if mom's going I'll see if I can go too #sword.work
