Given that everyone I've told about this so far has immediately declared their desire to observe this holiday, maybe I need to share with tumblr.
For two years now, 22nd August in our house has been Sword Day.
The kids decided that there was Easter and May Day in the spring, Hallowe'en in the autumn, Christmas and their birthdays in the winter... Summer needed a holiday. And so Sword Day was born.
For Sword Day, you can celebrate in the way you choose. We usually find a museum with a sword collection and go to marvel at weaponry. Other acceptable activities incluse but are not limited to learning about swords, sword bunting, sword shaped biscuits, making up songs about swords... You get the idea.
