Indulge in this decadent and creamy slow cooker custard, perfect for dessert or a sweet treat any time of day. The gentle heat of the slow cooker ensures a smooth and velvety texture without the risk of curdling.
Ingredients: 6 large eggs. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 cups whole milk. 1 cup heavy cream. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/4 teaspoon salt. Ground nutmeg for garnish.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar until well combined. Stir in milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour the mixture into a greased slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until custard is set but still jiggly in the center. Turn off the slow cooker and let the custard cool slightly. Sprinkle ground nutmeg on top for garnish. Serve warm or chilled.

Sunday will go down as one of my favorite hunts and memories of all time. The story isn’t mine to tell, but Ryan hunted hard all day to get a chance at this buck, and I’m just glad I decided to sneak over to his spot and see it unfold. I’ve never been with Ryan when he killed a buck, and to see his excitement in that moment and when we recovered him was pure joy. If that wasn’t enough, we got a text not ten minutes later that our bonus nephew, Eli, shot a buck at almost the exact same moment Ryan had, literally within five minutes of each other. We don’t have a “deer camp”, but it kind of felt that way at our house when they brought Eli’s deer over for pictures and to hang in the garage for processing. It’s been a crazy few weeks around our house, and though we’ve frequently been in the same place, it was likely the baseball field or a school event or dinner with players—not exactly quality alone time—so when we snuck out of town to the woods this afternoon, we decided to post up in the same tree. The wind was crazy, and we got soaked and freezing when the sky opened up to pour on us for most of the afternoon, and we only saw deer at a very great distance, but there’s nothing like an afternoon in the woods with my guy.
