Cactus party 🌵🎊🌮🎉
See a green-themed party display and you think, “This must be for St. Patrick’s Day!” Well, this absolutely gorgeous dessert table designed by Principal Planner (Azar Jazestani Events) never even hints at the iconic Irish celebration—in fact, its actual post title is “Montreal Sweet Table: Urban Design.”
Sweets table. Checking in with another Wedding post, over 4 months since we tied the knot but it takes a while to get these blogs up from time to time. There it is, the step/podium that i made to present the most delightful Brownies you wished you could have eaten. Brownie flavours in order of yum: MARS Bar = YUM Creme Caramel = YUM White Choc & Matcha = YUM Choc Orange =YUM Oh and have i mentioned the brownies?!!! BEST BROWNIES EVER! Thanks to the Dandy Horse crew for supplying these beauts. If you want brownies speak to them they rock! (https://www.facebook.com/adandyadventure) ———————————————————————————————————– Aaaaaaaaanyway the build. I scribbled down a design, and i mean scribbled, look at the state of it. Where’s AutoCad when you need it. Not that i needed it….. It was a simple build, just an old sheet of MDF about 20mm thick. I used the remainder for the Dice that i talked about previously (https://jwalmsley4.tumblr.com/post/166153611211/dice-1st-wedding-post-on-the-ol-blog-therell-be). I ran them through the bench saw at work and glued, pinned and screwed the bits together to create the steps. It was a little weak i the centre but, fortunately didn’t bow once added with treats. I then used PVA to adhere the cards to the step to create a simple tiled effect. The cards were misprints from the company that printed our Invitations so i wanted to make use of them, it seemed silly to waste the cards entirely just because the corners were cut badly and there was some printing discrepancy. There was a lot of fuss made about the printing aspect of these cards so i wont go into detail as i’ll only get worked up and rage quit on this blog post. All I’ll say is that i will NOT be using Blackwell Print ever again. They suck. Using the spare cards for the tiling was good, but i wanted to break up the golden/yellow colour that was dominating the table set up. So i took some of the extra cards we had from our 2nd batch of invites and used the King & Queen designs to make place mats for the glass domes that the brownies were being presented in. I also fanned out a the cards and stuck them to the fronts using a combination of super glue and masking tape, before running a grey MR & MRS ribbon around most of the edges. Again this was just glued on and pinned at the corners/back of the steps. Much like the models I sometimes make at work i wanted to frame the middle. So i also used cards, again fanning them out, which worked as it both hid the empty negative space and added more shape to the step. We also made a bunch of A4 signs that we printed ourselves with the occasional dietary joke/information on. We just stuck it in cheap frame and we made these for all of our tables at our wedding. Quite a simple and cheap build as it was from scraps (story of my life), just took a while sticking everything together really. I imagine it now lives in a landfill somewhere…. ✌️
