brocade fabric swatch dump from a Delhi fabric shop
These have been sitting on the shelf all week waiting to go somewhere beautiful.
Gold on gold. Ivory with silver thread. That deep teal one is doing something illegal.
Brocade is one of those fabrics that looks important just sitting there. You do not need to do much to it. It already knows what it is.
The weaving for these comes out of Varanasi. You can feel the weight difference between machine-woven and handloom brocade when you hold both at once. The handloom has a slight unevenness that the machine cannot replicate. That unevenness is not a flaw. It is the bunkar's hands showing up in the cloth.
Bridal season picks. Lehenga fabric. Blouse fabric. Saree border material. All of it.
If your outfit does not have a moment where the fabric catches the light and the room goes slightly quiet, is it even doing its job?
