and feeling very very very much at home. Also remembering the previous two years of being in the auditorium - the bicycle days and the teacher days :)

The informal tone of speaking and the kind of things they chose to speak about were both big hits (how is a Mridangam tuned? What goes into making a Kanjira? Why do some Ghatams sound different from others? How does PlayDoh come into the picture?). So was the final performance with the percussion occasionally muted - to show how much more dynamic the music sounds with the Mridangam, Ghatam and Kanjira. A few of my kids were so.excited. that they asked me if they can get the Kanjira player's autograph. And these are normally sedate, contained kids!

As always, in Kalakshetra, lots of eye candy. See, usually, girls look great everywhere. But Kalakshetra is one place where there are lots of cute looking boys. And this time, the number of awkward-in-veshti-but-cute-nonetheless boys outnumbered the perfectly turned out girls.
