Non-Location Specific: MFA Art Practice Second Year Exhibition
In quantum physics, nonlocality describes an object's ability to know about another object's state, even when light years apart. Seemingly separate parts of the universe are actually intimately and immediately connected.
Non-location Specific includes work from Colleen Comer, Andrew Cziraki, Irina Jibert, Min Kim, Emily Klass, Zhuoyuan Li, Jingjing Lin, Allison O’Connor, Barbara Owen, Erin Peisert, Roxy Savage, Patricia Tewes, Denise Thompson, Heather Williams and Tianran Wu– 15 artists who span 4 generations and 3 continents. Superficially unrelated, but in actuality, deeply engaged with one another, this cohort has spent the past 9 months gathering in an online forum, sitting in front of computers and mobile devices in various cities, and conversing, asynchronously. Their works share common themes, including ecological concern, technological wariness and a desire for social justice. By excluding any notion of a particular location, division, separation, or border, they’ve found a way to express in universal terms.
Non-Location Specific
