Twisting the cap back on the black shiny tube of lipstick she sighed and tossed it in her purse. Grabbing a napkin from the dispenser in the bathroom she wiped off the red she had just smeared across her lips. It was the complete wrong shade and conflicted with her hair to say the least. The down side about being a red head was the fact that most reds made her look like she was auditioning to be a clown. Just as she tossed the towel into the trashcan she saw Chole walk in with a couple girls behind her. Scowling at the girls who followed behind Chole she tried not to roll her eyes. She wasnât going to stand there while the girls she spent the last 2 years becoming friends with worshiped the ground Chole walked on and talked about how perfect she was. Chole hadnât even been back two weeks, but everyone was more than willing to spend their time kissing her ass. The last thing she needed today was to be reminded of all of those horrible memories from childhood.
She quickly reapplied a different lip gloss that was more suited for her skin and then did a once over to make sure her hair was still in place. Once her routine was done she hurried out of the bathroom pushing past the Chole Worshipers, into the busy hall. The hall was packed with people all scrambling to get to their next class and it was a mad house to say the least. Jumping into the sea of people she made her way to her locker waving and smiling at people who pasted her by in the hall. All of that smiling and waving did make her feel a little like she was in a Miss America pageant, but she had to keep up appearances; she had to stay liked. Once she made it to her locker she saw Emily and Alexis standing next to each other in a deep discussion about something she couldnât hear. âWhat are you two talking about?â Sutton asked, appearing behind Alexis. A couple nothings were said on both ends before both girls took off in opposite directions down the halls. âWas that weird?â She asked herself aloud. âYou do realize talking to yourself in the hall seems a little crazy right?â Luke smirked as he appeared next to her. âHush!â Sutton warned before pushing him playfully away. âHey, Iâm just warning you before the people in white coats show up to take you away.â Luke laughed loudly before disappearing back into the sea of people. Luke had been her best friend since childhood, and over the years he had more became like her brother. He was one of the few her had always stuck by her no matter what. When she went through her goth, artsy, hipster, cowgirl, and even skateboard faze. She had tried every weird faze there was hoping to fit into some group, and no matter what Luke stuck around. Hell, he was even the one who taught her how to skateboard. He was even the one who took her to the hospital when she thought she broken her arm falling off the skateboard. Nothing in the world could buy a friendship like that and she wouldnât trade it for anything.
Looking around her she noticed the hall had pretty much cleared out expect for a few kids that were still lurking around. She spotted Ethan arguing with Marie about something that she couldnât make out, but she was pretty sure it was something about her leaving him. Caroline also passed her in a rush and she swore the girl was running at almost an unnatural speed, but no one seemed to notice. Her imagine was probably just playing tricks on her like always. Grabbing her books out of her locker she hurried into the classroom across the hall. The teacher hadnât made it in thankfully which meant she would be spared from any forum of public embarrassment for showing up late. Taking her normal seat she looked around at the other students in the class who were all impatiently waiting for the teacher to finally arrive. Watching Parker slid into the seat next to her, a tiny smirk appeared on her face. Just as he was about to say something she watched his mouth open and close when Mrs. Peters came stomping in. All discussions came to a halt and everyone fell into their seats silently as class began. Just as Mrs. Peters turned around to start writing the lesson on the board a note fell into the center of Suttonâs desk. Looking around for who might have sent it she notice anyone looking at anything other than the board. Opening the note as quietly as she could she saw the boyish handwriting that she knew instantly belonged to Parker. Reading the note quickly she rolled her eyes playfully at the words he had written before looking over at him. When she did he sent her one of his famous winks, and she just shook her head at him. âSutton, anything you would like to share with the class?â Mrs. Peters yelled harshly. âNothing.â Sutton answered softly before sinking a little lower in her chair, she went back to writing the rest of the lesson down
