it felt like there was something she should have done. could have done to save him. save them. how many times had she thought about running? before they’d been found out. before the KGB had scrubbed him from her mind, and wed her to alexi, it must have been dozens. still young, and desperately in love ... she’d thought of running every day. she should have convinced him of it. reaching over she brushed her hand against his back, leaning forward she pressed her forehead between his shoulder blades. “i never regretted you either,” she whispered. “not a moment of it. i only wish ... i had convinced you to run away with you.” 

     Always the same thing when these heavily decked out guys show up in Gotham. Some idiot Joker or the like tries to stir up trouble and ends up pissing off the wrong guy. A batarang launches from above, lodging in the wall next to the confrontation. “Sorry to interrupt your lover’s spat.” He descended, shoving the gang member from the man’s reach and bataranging his shirt to the brick. “But you two look like you needed counseling.”

     “Oh come on, Buck, it’s not that bad.” And on cue, the crashed airborne car exploded, as if the universe itself just wanted to remind him it had a sense of humor. “-well. Better get walking.”

“And you thought I’d leave you for Peggy?”
