Chas @iamchas use to call me “12 Years a Slave” to past relationships.... because I would linger farrrrrrr longer than I should have (emotionally) when it was over. I still do this, in ways. Not even just with last lovers. I have some old friends that never offered any “closure” on our friendship dissolving and I have even lingered, in the last, In hopes of “proper” closure in those kinds of situations. Sometimes - It never comes. 😶 I have had to give entire eulogies to funerals of dead relationships in my mind. Sometimes that hurt will resurrect itself and I will have to go back into my mind to recall the apology I envisioned all over again so that I can surrender it all over again. IT IS NOT EASY. But it is helpful. To be able to forgive folk for something they have never even apologized for. It’s not easy but the apology and forgiveness is all abt you anyways so - is worth the work. 🙏🏾 This post is for empaths... those of us walking around with The Who what when where and why’s of ourselves AND others - trying to process and intellectualize stuff that might not actually make sense to any party involved. Sometimes folk loved you the best they could and then they let go because they really didn’t have anything more to give. That doesn’t lessen the hurt... but it is reason enough to keep surrender on repeat, from a place of grace because the friendship, the relationship, the job, the situation - it was “good” when it was good, and then it was no more... and that is ok too! 🤷🏾♀️ #SurrenderOnRepeat #TheFreePeopleProject https://www.instagram.com/p/BrFm1nrlv3Y/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=3cc9uwmw5ymn
