I completely by accident woke up an hour ago, which was 6 am my time, and saw that Link and Britton had started their listening party on IG a minute earlier. I suck at time zones, and somehow assumed their live started at 2 am my time, so imagine my surprise!
I just spent an hour on a Sunday morning listening to two guys talk about music I know nothing about, and it was fun. And they'll do it again next week! 💗

Having seen and enjoyed this meme all this time, last night I accidentally stumbled across the film that it comes from, and I've gotta say....never in a million years did I imagine he was saying it with that accent 😮

me: Ok, why not check out this linked show with the actor from The Untamed? I’m curious to see how different he looks, considering all male actors wear the same wig style in cdramas...
There is Chinese rap in the opening music. I have never before in my life pondered about the existence of Chinese rap. Now I am. How does it work with the tones?
I see, we half a Wolfskind situation... CGI Wolfs. Does the show have magic or not?! Not sure yet.
Oh the girl is confident and clever, let’s see how long they will let her be that.
Shit is happening! By now I thought it was part of the genre that the first ~10 episodes of something are basically a lot of set up and introduction, but nope!
She is bold, I like her. Also, her father lets her go out. How refreshing.
HOW DARE they threaten the wolf puppy being killed. That is the one rule: do not kill the doggy!
Evil brother is evil and stupid.
OMG THEY KILLED THE WOLF PUPPY.
No magic in the show. Special effects budget goes into cgi animals.
The goddamn emperor abducts her friend... will he be turned into a secret(?) killing machine? The Hound 2.0?
I choked when she pointed out they wanted her to pick a date based on her period. I never considered that. I am stupid sometimes.
The guy solving her riddles - will he be her husband when Wolfie returns?
Oh, Wolfie got his own gang of black leather bad ass people now. I appreciate a woman being in there. Apparently the emperor treated him well enough, making him a real son and such.
Wait, why is her family being killed again?!
Wolfie actually has a different hairstyle from the standard cdrama wig. Long hair undercut?! I am impressed. Not necessarily because I think it looks good (still undecided on that), but it being individualistic.
This show has pace! It might ruin me for other shows and their lengthy exhibition bits. I can still keep up with the number of people introduced. No trace of the actor from The Untamed who lured me into this.
Now they abducted her, even though they were supposed to kill everyone?!
Nevermind, the “good guy“ is evil.
The Ma troops second in command seems to be a woman. I like it! And she is not super frail!
...Nevermind, they make fun of her weight and make her a clumsy idiot. I thought she would be a badass experienced warrior character. But all chubby characters in Chinese dramas seem to exist for the sole purpose of comedic relief purposes.
I sincerely doubt schizophrenia is what she has, I think it is more a PTSD thing.
Oh boy, will he pissed at her forever and mistreat her as revenge?
I like that she is meeting all the drinking toasts they put up. Please let me believe her dad taught her how to hold her liquor.
...nevermind...
Someone explain to me the white face paint in the servant’s faces?
The emperor is set up as evil, because why else would the Ma family have been assassinated? But him setting up their marriage, is that him being evil, knowing his adopted son hates her, or is he trying to set them up for potential future happiness? I know there is a political explanation, but I am talking the emotional side here.
OF COURSE she picks up the one beggar of utmost plot importance!
Questionable royal lineage? Are we setting up the plot for her husband the adopted son becoming the crown prince?
Is this going to be a set up for him being a sadistic beast to her pure hearted Belle?
BAM the emperor already knew the empress had had sex before him and he respected her for telling him! I did not expect that! Good plot, good plot, poor cook.
oh OH, her clumsy maiden revealing the full story to Lord Wolf, so he goes and saves her! Why did everyone back home know every detail about her childhood? teenage? adolescent? heart break. If she owned it so much it became public knowledge, respect.
I thought they would drag out the plot of him despising her much longer. Good they did not.
But know, serious question: Is it almost like gaslighting that he doesn’t reveal who he is? I get the thought of him now being someone else, a different person, but she will be having the moments of thinking he is Wolfie and feel crazy. This is going to be the set up for a huge fallout between them, won’t it? Beside the “I came to assassinate your family” thing of course.
Her injured leg has long lasting effects. Enough for it to be of utmost importance that she is not injuring it more (foreshadowing?), but not enough for her to move or behave any differently from any other character, essentially. What a missed chance for representation! She could be a disabled Chinese princess and be pretty and smart!
So now he likes her... When he said his opinion of her would change when that flowers blooms... Doesn’t basically everything bloom once a year? I thought he meant he would never like her... does it bloom for real now or did he put in a fake huge blossom thing?
Now he likes her and everyone can have their presents back.
I am having far too much fun with the reversed pretend marriage trope. Let’s pretend not to be engaged while you woo a spoiled bratty princess for political purposes. I also like how she clearly represents a different, to me Muslim coded culture within the very same empire.
