Suriani x Homo Riot Pride Mural
Seven months ago, I dreamed of a mural that celebrated queer liberation. I wanted to see two artists who had inspired my journey to create the first documentary film to explore the global Queer Street Art movement come together for the first time.
This weekend, after months of collaborative brainstorming, SURIANI and HOMO RIOT made it a reality. I'm so proud of this wall. And happy to hear so many tell me this is a mural they wished they could have seen when they were younger.
Suriani’s imagine of Marsha is based on Richard Shupper’s studio portrait of Marsha P. Johnson from 1991, the year before her death.
Thank you so much Steve Stoppert for the wall and your incredible support!
