I think my ROSSie went pretty well today. I finished 3 minutes under time. I was shaking so hard that all of my carmalts were knocking together and rattling. Lol. I think I may have pointed one of my curved tips the wrong direction, but I tied down all of my pedicles nicely. And looking for the second ovary I felt like I was pulling tied handkerchiefs out. THE SECOND HORN WAS SO LONG. I had to retie one of my closures on the fascia because I didn't close it tightly enough. There was hardly any sub-q material to work with, so that threw me a bit. And once I buried my last knot and cut it, I noticed that I must have pulled on one side a little much, so I used my needle drivers and tissue forceps to tighten it. Which might be frowned upon. And for my skin closures, I had to do one cruciate mattress closure and one far-far-near-near. I decided to start with the cruciate, but couldn't get the knot to tighten properly and proceeded to snap the suture. I re-did it and did my other one. I thought the far-far-near-near might've been too far on the one side, and after finding out I only had three minutes left, I decided I would rather fail one section than the whole exam (for going over time). All in all though I feel pretty good about it.

Practiced my surgery skillz at the hour of very late last night. I was proud of myself for using my suture almost all the way (the length of the needle is what I had left of suture) tying off the pedicles, closing the fascia, and subcutaneous tissue. My tags all had nice lengths. I had nice apposition in the fascia. I buried my knots. Then I looked at the remaining suture packets on the table to choose from to close the skin. All that was left was "absorbable" suture, which meant that I closed everything with "non-absorbable" suture. I'm pretty sure that's an automatic failure. Lol. Whoops.
