Fiber Friday Vacationing brings out my creativity. I have been spinning lovely white and black Alpaca on a Castle wheel. It is all gone, so I need to card more. I am enjoying knitting my handspun white Alpaca with my handspun hand dyed two ply Alpaca with purchased lilac Alpaca. It is the Hatteras Hug design from last year. Heaven! I have been experimenting with making my own support spindle and finally made one I like and that spins well. It is two shells hot glued together with a hole drilled all the way through for a wood stick. I am spinning Noro pencil roving on it.

Spindled Shawl Finally finished the shawl I began during my first Tour de Fleece! I started spinning on drop spindles and moved on to supported spindles. I plied the alpaca sliver and Noro pencil roving yarn on a turkish spindle. I steamed the shawl because none of the singles or plied yarn was steamed since I did not know to do it.

Support Spinning Getting ready to teach a class on spinning pencil roving with a support spindle. The spindle and bowl and the Noro Rainbow Roll pencil roving are all from the Blue Pelican in Hatteras, NC. Each kit has 1/2 oz of roving to spin. It is enough to make two ply yarn and then knit the shown Coaster. We plan to offer the class during Tour de Fleece.
